The Place Light Gets In is a collection of memoirs written over several years by a group of eight individuals who all started writing to record some of their memories for others to read. In the process, they found forgotten memories and new friendships that gave them insight and support for building their writing skills and coping during the pandemic. The stories contained in the book are as varied as the people who wrote them. With an age range of fifty years, the one thing these writers have in common is that they are Episcopalians and were brought together by an idea inspired by two priests at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church. Beyond that, they have many different backgrounds and life experiences to share in their stories. These memoirs will take you across the globe from an unexpected ride on a camel in Cairo to the anxiety of returning home from Australia at the start of the pandemic. Through the stories, you will travel through time from a young man's na ve enlistment in the National Guard and subsequent deployment across an ocean to fight in the Korean War, to the difficult adjustments of changing our expectations for daily life during COVID. Relationships are uncovered, whether they are about joyful celebrations together, hilarious predicaments, profound loss, or riveting experiences that renew one's faith. Through all these stories, the writers hope you will enjoy reading their memoirs and be inspired to write about your own memories.

With the help of four accomplished mentors nicknamed the Girls, Becca must evolve from fearful neophyte to fierce protector, putting her very soul on display.(A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to Atlanta Urban Ecologists, an education program for youth in grades 8 through 12.)
