Depuis plusieurs decennies, l'espace rural voit se developper de nouvelles activites qui transforment son fonctionnement sur les plans ecologique, economique et social. Il est des lors necessaire de s'interroger sur l'existence d'un cadre institutionnel capable d'accompagner ces transformations. L'enjeu est de determiner dans quelle mesure les developpements actuels beneficient-ils de regles institutionnelles permettant d'imposer (ou de concilier) les nouveaux usages du sol avec les usages en place ? Ce livre rend compte d'une partie des resultats d'un projet de recherche intitule " New Rurality " finance par l'Agence nationale de la recherche. Sur le plan methodologique, il s'inscrit dans le cadre d'analyse des regimes institutionnels des ressources. Celui-ci permet de prendre en compte non seulement les politiques publiques mises en place mais egalement les droits d'usages et de proprietes qui fondent et regulent l'acces aux ressources naturelles, en l'occurrence ici, le sol en milieu rural. Ce livre dresse ainsi un panorama des modes de regulation des activites en zones rurales dans trois pays: la France, la Suisse et les Pays-Bas. En definitive, il analyse les conflits et les modes de conciliation, entre les activites traditionnelles (agriculture, sylviculture, chasse, etc.) et les nouvelles activites (loisirs, production d'energie renouvelable, protection de la nature, etc.).
