EVER FALLEN IN LOVE - Sharon Pendelbury is that unobtainable girl; the "fittest girl in school"; the type of girl that is only ever interested in lads who play for the school footy team and not some skinny, pale loser like me. I can only dream of ever getting the chance to go out with her. But then, owing to some bizarre, unfathomable twist of fate (or maybe due to some sort of vision impairment on her part) I manage to pull the aforementioned goddess of the Fifth Form (the year above me) and then the trick is to keep hold of my "prize." There are other loves in my life of course: there's Debbie Harry, Hammer horror movies, Monty Python, listening to John Peel and trying to adhere to all the principles of the music I am hearing (this is the late 70s after all - the tail-end of punk rock!) EVER FALLEN IN LOVE captures a certain period of growing up during the punk rock era of the late 70s, in a small town in the north of England.

The authors explore the complex relationship between learning and adults’ lives, following a wide range of individual students in various formal learning situations, from college environments to a young homeless project, and a drug support and aftercare centre. The study is rooted in a social practices approach and examines how people’s lives shape their learning. Themes addressed range from: how literacy is learned through participation and how barriers such as violence and ill-health impact on people’s lives. Based on a major research project and detailed, reflexive and collaborative methodology, the book describes a coherent strategy of communication and impact which will have a direct effect on policy and practice
