DESCRIPTIONLinked Data is a standards-driven model for representing structured data on the Web that gives developers, publishers, and information architects a consistent, predictable way to publish, merge and consume data. It's been adopted by many well-known institutions, including Google, Facebook, IBM, Oracle, and government agencies, as well projects such as Drupal and WordPress. Linked Data presents the Linked Data model in plain, jargon-free language and offers practical techniques using everyday tools like JavaScript and Python. It works through examples of increasing complexity while explaining foundational concepts such as HTTP URIs, the Resource Description Framework (RDF), and the SPARQL query language. Readers will learn to use various Linked Data document formats to create powerful Web applications and mashups, and to effectively use emerging Web standards to access, find, and query structured data on the Web. RETAIL SELLING POINTSWritten by Web developers for web developersA step-by-step, hands-on guide to using Linked DataShows how to utilize the power of tomorrow's Web today AUDIENCEWritten for Web developers by Web developers, this book requires no previous exposure to Linked Data technologies.ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGYThe launch of Schema.org in June 2011 by Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! and the publication of Linked Data by retailers such as Best Buy, Sears and Volkswagen brought Linked Data into the mainstream. Small Wind Turbines provides a thorough grounding in analysing, designing, building, and installing a small wind turbine. Small turbines are introduced by emphasising their differences from large ones and nearly all the analysis and design examples refer to small turbines. The accompanying software includes MATLAB® programs for power production and starting performance, as well as programs for detailed multi-objective optimisation of blade design. A spreadsheet is also given to help readers apply the simple load model of the IEC standard for small wind turbine safety. Small Wind Turbines represents the distilled outcome of over twenty years experience in fundamental research, design and installation, and field testing of small wind turbines.Small Wind Turbines is a suitable reference for student projects and detailed design studies, and also provides important background material for engineers and others using small wind turbines for remote power and distributed generation applications.

In this book we give an overview of modeling techniques used to describe computer systems to mathematical optimization tools. We give a brief introduction to various classes of mathematical optimization frameworks with special focus on mixed integer linear programming which provides a good balance between solver time and expressiveness. We present four detailed case studies -- instruction set customization, data center resource management, spatial architecture scheduling, and resource allocation in tiled architectures -- showing how MILP can be used and quantifying by how much it outperforms traditional design exploration techniques. This book should help a skilled systems designer to learn techniques for using MILP in their problems, and the skilled optimization expert to understand the types of computer systems problems that MILP can be applied to.

Build your child’s reading confidence at home with books at the right level When the Three Bears leave their house for a walk, a young girl named Goldilocks appears and is drawn in to the house by the smell of hot porridge. But what happens when the bears return and find their porridge is gone? This fun rhyming play by the ‘national children’s dramatist’ David Wood is wonderfully illustrated by Tom Percival. This is a Band 11/Lime book in the Collins Big Cat reading programme which has longer sentence structures and a greater use of literary language. This story is a playscript of a traditional tale, and pages 30 and 31 present a radio interview with the Three Bears which explores their thoughts towards the events of the play. This book supports literacy as well as learning about dialogue and plays. This book has been quizzed for Accelerated Reader. This volume presents a comprehensive look at the phenomenon of formulaic language (multi-word units believed to be mentally stored and retrieved as single units) and its role in fluent speech production. Focusing on second language speech, the book provides an overview of research into the role of formulaic language in fluency, details a study which provides evidence of that role, and outlines teaching plans and strategies to foster it. This important area has not been examined in such depth and scope before, and this work has many implications for future research and language pedagogy. It will appeal to researchers in discourse analysis and second language acquisition.

David Wood's first foray into young adult fiction is an action-packed horror tale laced with dark humor and even darker thrills."The Zombie Driven Life is a fast-paced, zombie story that manages to be thoughtful, humorous, and surprising while giving zombie fans everything they love about the genre-gore, desperate situations and a big body count. The perfect book to devour in a single day." Jeremy Bishop, author of Torment."Wood paints a horrific scenario of a world in ruin and a few survivors struggling to find safe havens and a reason to carry on.
