Mushmouth is so used to Cassie being behind him and talking to him, that while she is gone, he has to get the rest of the gang to take her place. I grew up in a military family, where I always seemed to be on the move like a nomad in the desert. It was not really an enjoyable life for me, and a child should never be subjected to constant moving around. As a consequence, I never was comfortable around people. This book talks about all the problems and what-not that I endured during the constant moving periods. The biggest portion of this book also talks about when I moved from Washington to Montana, and back to Washington again. This book will make you laugh, it might even make you weep. The story is about a young pine tree named Little Pine, who stands next to his father in the woods. The father tells the tale of the Ancient One to Little Pine and all the animals and their young in the forest. A couple of humans invade the forest of the old days with their bulldozers and are ready to strip the forest bare to make way for progress. The animals though won't have any of that, and together with the Ancient One, come up with a plot to save the trees and their forest. This is a story that Ms. Rivera bases in part on her own marriage which took place in 1997. Candi finally buckles down and decides to marry Leopold, her long-time boyfriend. Some spice has been added to the story. Leopold has a tough time when he decides he should tell Candi about the one-night stand he had with the evil Stacy the night before. Of course Candi is upset when she hears this, and bawls Leopold out, then walks out of the diner where they were having drinks. When Candi takes a long break in a far away field, she runs into Stacy as she trots along the field on horseback. Of course you can probably guess what Candi is thinking when she sees Stacy! Based on Rivera's own ex-supervisor at that job. Stacy snaps first at Mushmouth, and then snaps at Kathy as she tries to be the peacemaker for them. But Kathy looks beyond Stacy's evil attitude, and instead finds humor in her behavior. Find out what happens in this story. Part 2 in the mini-series of the Adventures of Rosa and Mushmouth. Mushmouth is downtown and gets the idea to meet Martin and go to the movies. Martin agrees and tells Mushmouth to meet him at Rosa's to go. So he does, but when he arrives, Martin isn't there. He goes looking for Martin and believes he is somewhere in the house. But is surprised when he looks in the bathroom and sees Rosa in the shower! This is the last time Rosa is seen in this book. Martin finally shows up and they go to the movies. But surprise, Martin tries to buy their tickets and discovers he cannot because he lost his money! So now what do they do? They cannot get into the movies without any money.
