Dr Deirdre Shawe. MB. BS, FRCP, DCH, MRCGP states "India Beckons" written by Dorothy Fallows-Thompson, is a sequel to "For the love of a Boy." The "boy" is Dorothy's "son of the heart," a young Indian man who asked Dorothy to be his mother, when his own mother died, as she had befriended his parents many years previously. This developing mother-son relationship brings Dorothy to India, where she becomes inspired to help children in need. It took ten years to bring this dream to a reality, with the opening of a school, the House of Hope, in the slum area of Chandigarh, a city in the Punjab, North India."India beckons" is the ongoing story of the miraculous transformation of a group of children and their families, brought about by the provision of education, love and care at the House of Hope.
"Life Lines Book 2" provides further original and comprehensive analysis of life's varied moments, and is constructed in harmony with the Christian ethos to view nature with a positive mind. The advantage of the poetic form of the book is the way that this gives more vivid and compact expression. This is evident in the characteristic of the poems giving full insight into Christian and social life, as well as life's experiences and activities.
Dorothy Fallows-Thompson started writing when she retired from nursing after a life changing trip to India in 1999. Her first book 'For the love of a boy' was published in 2012: in aid of Charity. 2013: A novel (based on fact) giving a fun look at 'Nurse Training' in the 60's published under the pen name 'Cynthia Myles'. 2014: Two Books of Poems entitled: Life Lines 1&2 for life's varied moments She is now enjoying life on the island of Majorca with her husband Peter.
A letter arrived 'out of the blue' and set in motion a series of events which were to change my life forever. By a brief 'acquaintance' some forty years previously; you could almost say in a 'different lifetime' my whole future was to be transformed. 'For the Love of a Boy' is my story of the 'Miracle of Love' God has worked as a result of a mother's love thousands of miles away from my home.... From that chance meeting in England; to the 'love of a mother' in India, a young sixteen year old girl in Brazil and finally a young run-away boy in South India, God's plan was being set-in place. As you read I pray that God will touch your hearts with love and joy and peace. Blessing you richly for your contribution to this 'House of Hope' Project in the Punjab, India, by spreading the word and becoming partners with us enabling more children to make choices in their lives through the education system.
