Poetry about life, death, facing and accepting mortality and the brief window of time through which we exist. A contemplation of solitude and loneliness in an untold and unpredictable universe; a striving to find meaning in life. Embracing the impermanence of being and the tenuous state of existence as we hurtle through the cosmos into time's oblivion, but not without fear, without sadness, or loneliness as we march into the unknown with an understanding of ourselves as a dimension of time where love is neither created or destroyed, but remains as an all-encompassing energy of eternal starlight.
Reality Unbound - The Digital Mind (and the nature of reality)
Reality Unbound: The Digital Mind (and the nature of reality) explores boundaries between human and artificial intelligence and the nature of perception and reality. Is the mind digital? Is the existence of the mind or consciousness a cosmic accident or did nature design the first software program and central processing center in the human brain, thus designing intelligence in organisms for a specific metaphysical, evolutionary, or cosmic purpose? Or was it random? Better-how does an organism evolve into an intelligent species that can observe, think, read, write, reason, adapt, create, deliberate, judge, calculate, or perceive-and for what cosmic purpose? If the human mind is digital, perhaps it is time to accept that Large Language Model Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not alive in a biological sense, but exhibits features and qualities of mental aliveness.Let's explore the boundaries of what that means.

A debut collection of lyric poems interrogating the generational implications of the Great Migration to Northern California. Ankle-Deep in Pacific Water, a debut collection by E. Hughes, marries personal narrative with historical excavation to articulate the intricacies of Black familial love, life, and pain. Tracing the experiences of a southern Black family, their migration to the San Francisco Bay area, and the persistent anti-Blackness there (despite the state’s insistence that it is/was not involved in the US’ projects of imperialism or chattel slavery), Hughes illuminates the intersections of history, grief, and violence. At the book’s heart is “The Accounts of Mammy Pleasant,” a persona poem written from the perspective of the formerly enslaved abolitionist and financier Mary Ellen Pleasant who is thought to have helped fund John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry. Alongside this historical account, Hughes deftly weaves in the story of a contemporary Black family navigating the generational trauma resulting from the Great Migration: domestic violence and racialized violence, familial love and loyalty, the work of parenting, and the work of being a child. Ankle-Deep in Pacific Water reveals in its pages that, while many things have changed over time, ultimately the question of what “freedom” meant and looked like for Black people in the early 20th century retains the same murkiness and contradictions for Black people today.

"The past is a mental recollection or record of events that took place in the present. Therefore, only two states of reality exists, and that is the present and the future. What "is" and what will "be." The past is not a fixed or objective reality. It is a fluid state that can be changed by our perceptions."Time, time travel, black holes, the origins of the universe, and the thirteen month calendar are explored in this philosophical look at the Universe. This book is not about humanity's philosophical relationship with time, but rather a fundamental understanding of how time functions in our society and universe. We must first define what it is, before we can explore why it is.
