The Wasters are all that remain at the end...except for Bob. At least that's what he thinks. After an extinction event wipes out much of the human race and leaves the rest mindless and crazy, Bob lives his life the best he can, surviving alone, until...he meets a girl. Bob's life is thrown into disarray when the girl he thinks he loves is taken away by the security forces loyal to her tyrant father. Desperate to find her, he begins a quest that takes him from his comfortable home in Forest Heights to the absurd and terrible end of civilization in Memphis. All of our obsessions and terrors of the present day are woven together into this weird epic that's equal parts action-adventure, slapstick farce, and love story, simultaneously impossible to believe and oddly plausible, and will pop up in your head when you least expect it.
