Teacher-coach collaboration is critical to teacher effectiveness and student learning, but sometimes the in-the-moment response rate required when supporting several teacher requests at once can make literacy coaching appear to be, well, rather random. No More Random Acts of Literacy Coaching looks at the common obstacles and misconceptions that can prevent effective coaching, and offers strategies that literacy coaches, teachers, and principals can employ to make wise use of their time together. The authors offer practical steps to create a climate of positive professional learning that include: Providing responsive coaching in varied settings Identifying coaching activities that have the greatest impact Matching goals and priorities to coaching cycles Honoring teachers as co-designers of the work. When literacy coaching is intentional, carefully planned, and a collaborative team effort with teachers and principals, the results are dramatic. Student literacy growth increases, and the number of students needing intervention decreases. Learn how your team can work together to accelerate student success.

Questions to Ask Before Leaving is a series of guiding questions aimed at helping the reader arrive at their own answers. "Leaving" can pertain to people, situations, career paths, locations, any time there is a fork in the road or a line to draw. Each page is hand written, giving the feel that you are being handed someone else's journal to guide you. With drawings and lots of blank space to make it your own as you unravel your own thoughts. Any time I have thought about leaving anything, I found a lot of folks who offered support but no one who could really tell me what to do. Over time I came across better questions to arrive at my own answers. The first in a series of journaling questions for sorting emotions, navigating difficult times and finding your own compass.

A heart wrenching depiction of growing up female. The author unravels the effects of abuse, silence, beauty obsession, and shame while finding a path out. Revealing the possibility of creating space for our own values to emerge and allowing the same for one another. She envisions a reality with room for us each to safely explore our identities, our ideas, and our lives. Laying her experience bare that we might see ourselves in our common struggles so we can choose to systematically challenge the narratives that bind us. This poem is a first edition, the second will contain a collective of voices.
