Ester Athanásio

Among the emblematic controversies of Journalism is the debate about the limits of editorial freedom granted by the journalism company to its professional staff. Going beyond the values that guide the idealised Journalism and understanding that journalistic organisations are, besides social actors, political actors and economic businesses with their own interests, Ester Athan sio discusses to what extent and how Brazilian journalists perceive the editorial orientation of the companies they work for and how certain decisions put in check the social role of Journalism as a representative of public interest, creating tensions between private interests and the discourse of legitimation of the journalistic practice as a democratic social action. On the one hand, the anguish and impotence of these professionals; on the other hand, the passivity in the face of ethical conflicts are demonstrated in a quanti-qualitative way, through a national research applied by the author and refined by other researchers within the Federal University of Paran between 2013 and 2017.

Andando oltre i valori che guidano il giornalismo idealizzato e comprendendo che le organizzazioni giornalistiche sono, oltre che attori sociali, anche attori politici e imprese economiche con i propri interessi, Ester Athan sio discute fino a che punto e come i giornalisti brasiliani percepiscono l'orientamento editoriale delle aziende per cui lavorano e come certe decisioni mettano in crisi il ruolo sociale del giornalismo come rappresentante dell'interesse pubblico, creando tensioni tra interessi privati e il discorso di legittimazione della pratica giornalistica come azione sociale democratica. Da un lato, l'angoscia e l'impotenza di questi professionisti; dall'altro, la passivit di fronte ai conflitti etici sono dimostrati in modo quanti-qualitativo, attraverso una ricerca nazionale applicata dall'autore e perfezionata da altri ricercatori all'interno dell'Universit Federale del Paran tra il 2013 e il 2017.

Einerseits werden die Angst und die Ohnmacht dieser Fachleute, andererseits die Passivit t angesichts ethischer Konflikte auf quantitativ-qualitative Weise durch eine nationale Untersuchung aufgezeigt, die vom Autor durchgef hrt und von anderen Forschern an der Bundesuniversit t von Paran zwischen 2013 und 2017 verfeinert wurde.
