Das vorliegende Buch befaßt sich im Hinblick auf künftige Entwicklungen vornehmlich mit der Handhabung von 3D-CAD-Systemen und der damit zusammenhängenden dreidimensionalen Modellierung. Ziel ist es, den Konstrukteur in der Praxis wie auch den Studenten in der Ausbildung in die Technik des 3D-CAD einzuführen und ausreichende Fertigkeiten auf diesem neuen Gebiet zu vermitteln. Das setzt andere Vorstellungen und Vorgehensweisen als bei konventioneller Konstruktionstätigkeit oder beim Umgang mit 2D-Zeichnungssystemen voraus. Die in den letzten Jahren entwickelte Konstruktions- methodik bietet dabei eine wichtige Grundlage für einen sinnvollen Rechnereinsatz an, so daß - von ihr ausgehend - dieses Buch nicht nur einen Leitfaden für das Konstruieren mit CAD darstellt, sondern auch einen Beitrag zu einem integrierten und durchgängigen Rechnereinsatz leistet.
