Dancing With GhostsDaughter of Lightning 6 - Being the further adventures of Jeniche of AntarThe adventure continues, but for Jeniche, all seems hopeless. On her quest to find the almost mythical Pilgrims, she finds herself in Ekador - a place remembered only in children's tales where the land is said to meet the sky. When she arrives there, though, it is to discover a vast, deserted, artificial plain atop yet another equally deserted underground city. What is more, she finds that if she wants to meet the Pilgrims, she is on the wrong side of the world. With the past refusing to loosen its heartbreaking grip and the odds against her journeying to where she wants to be, Jeniche is all but ready to give up her search. Her companions, however, have other ideas and, with more than a little impetus from a nearby volcanic eruption, they persuade her to press on.At first it seems to be no more than a race against time, challenging as that is. It soon becomes something far more hazardous, however, for the dense forest of the forgotten land to which they have travelled contains a dark secret. Lurking there and spreading its malign influence is the revenant of a past evil. Caught up in the horrifying events, they find themselves engaged in a danse macabre, fighting for survival against an enemy they thought dead and buried.
The gods are dying and the world they have ruled for time out of mind is dying with them. All seems well for now in their vast Garden, but beyond the great Rim Wall that keeps it secure, the rains are failing, deserts are encroaching, and prayers are lost to the howling winds. The people of the outer nations watch the heavily guarded wall with hungry eyes, knowing that they or their children will one day starve or die trying to breach its defences. And then, the unheard-of happens. A warrior, bred to serve and protect the gods with unthinking loyalty, asks a question.

The third instalment in the Shadow of the Storm series. Jeniche and Alltud have been on an adventure for nearly three years. Now, the time has come for them to go home. But as they leave their hostel in the dead of the night, these plans are thwarted. The Qasireu of Alboran awaits the two travellers with a quest: they must move an item of great value, whose identity is to remain unknown. Carrying this item across the dusty moutains, they make a chance encounter: a woman from her past, who seems to know a great deal about the amulet around Jeniche’s neck and the power it possesses. Yet, the amulet isn’t the only secret the travellers carry with them. For little do they know, the item they are moving could pose a threat to the entire world.
Visits to museums have long been an important aspect of the education of young people and in recent years it has been increasingly recognised that education is core to the purpose of the museum. Not only do they introduce students to the many and varied forms of our material culture, they also introduce them to social, historical and scientific encounters that are difficult to find elsewhere. The second edition of this popular book takes account of the ongoing changes in both museums and education to provide a comprehensive introduction for student teachers, practising teachers and other educators to all that is required to make good educational use of museums. It explores what a museum is, their value in primary and secondary education and why they require special teaching skills. It then goes on to look at the practicalities of planning, preparing and conducting a visit, including risk assessment. Next, it introduces the basic skills involved in working with the resources that are required to make the best educational use of museums, including online and digital resources. Finally, the author considers ways of following-up work done outside the classroom, including some of the longer term strategies that teachers should consider.
Jeniche of Antar’s old life has a nasty habit of catching up with her. Jeniche has been a thief, a fugitive and an enemy of the law. After her clash with deadly Occassan soldiers, the remote northern land of Ynysvron seemed like a good place to lie low. Yet just when she feels ready to call this land home, her unique skills are called upon once again. Jeniche has impressed the warriors of Ynysvron, and they want her to join their dangerous quest for lost treasure. But when an old friend joins their group, Jeniche realises that the quest is far more than it seems. Her new home is under threat of invasion, and the treasure she must seek might be their only hope of survival.
A breathtaking tale of adventure, survival and loyalty. When the thief Jeniche finds her prison cell collapsing around her, she knows it is not going to be a good day. Certainly, the last thing she wanted once she escaped was to become involved with a group of monks and nuns being hunted by the Occassan soldiers who have invaded the city. Nor did she want to help the group flee by being their guide through the desert and mountains. Unfortunately, Jeniche’s skills are their only hope of making it out alive. But the soldiers are not the only danger waiting for them in the mountains.
"Kicking through the ashes of dreams, drawing warmth from memories and comfort from ghosts... Watching the dreaming waters... Waiting in the heat... Savouring the scent of a rose... Dancing in the ruins... Charlotte Jennifer Grace Cornelius Glimpsed here in flickers of storm light are moments from a life with no anchor in reality. Older, sometimes wiser, always sadder, she navigates a fractured world on the quest that has obsessed her since the long childhood ride out of paradise in the mountains."

Charlie lives with her Nan in Deptford. In the early days of the Blitz they are bombed out and Charlie becomes separated from the only people she knows and trusts. Although just nine, she salvages what she can from the wreckage and determines to build herself a new life. All she has, however, are fragments of the real world, uncertain memories of life in a far-off land, images from all the books and comics she reads, and glimpses of other worlds that may or may not be real. Stealing food and dodging the authorities, watching ghost children play, she carves out a precarious niche in the ruins. But, just as she finds friendship and the prospect of security, she crosses the path of a monster who stalks and kills young girls in the blacked out streets. Determined to protect what she has fought so hard to create, Charlie sets out to destroy the one tangible element of all the evil that has blighted her young life. Thin Reflections is the first of a quartet of novels that take us through fragments of the twentieth century as they were and as they might have been.Powerful, rich, and imbued with a sense of magic, they offer a glimpse into the ways we cope when the world is torn apart around us.

The world is never as it seems, yet the truth is hidden by the distractions we make for ourselves. This is the dilemma that faces Rowland Henty. Has he touched another reality? Set in the 19th century, this is a tragic novel of love and loss, of the choices we make, of a man who walked between worlds that he could not even be certain existed.
Divided into three sections, this book is designed to provide an introduction to the Druid Way based on a Celtic metaphysic. It examines the history of the Druid Way, the metaphysic that gives it continued life, the philosophical concepts of the Druid Way, as well as the importance of the Matter of Britain in understanding what it is to be Druid.
Rituals make you aware of the point at which you stand, and also of the place where you stand. Along with sample rituals for the eightfold year and eight major rites of passage, this work contains chapters on the nature of ritual and its place in our spiritual and everyday lives. There are also prayers and other workings.
