On a hot summer day in 1973, 19-year old Swedish-American girl Jenny, living in Mora, Minnesota, loses her family in a spooky hit-and-run car accident. In order to come to terms with her loss, she goes to sea. But she soon, however, changes her mind. She decides to look for her roots in Mora in Dalarna, Sweden, her Granddad Wally´s native village.On her way to Mora, Jenny gets attacked and loses her memory. Who is she? Detta är berättelsen om Nillan, en liten flicka född på 1940-talet i Stockholm. Alla förutsättningar finns för att hon ska få ett bra liv: kärleksfulla föräldrar, snälla bröder, bra uppväxtmiljö ... När hon i 50-årsåldern finner sin själsfrände, dröjer det inte länge förrän paret bestämmer sig för att emigrera till Afrika. They went to Africa.This book tells the true story of how they, during five years, lived as the only Europeans in a small village at the edge of one of the last rainforests in Kenya. They moved from a stressed life to a simple one, a clay hut on a maize field in Western Kenya, without any of the modern conveniences. On their own, they built a small rainforest hotel as the start of a new life.
