ENGLISH DESCRIPTION From Nobel Prize winner Han Kang comes her first work of nonfiction published in English--a singular collection of writings including her inspiring Nobel Lecture. A LITERARY HUB AND ELECTRIC LIT MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK OF THE YEAR In this light-filled and multi-faceted book, Han Kang draws together the threads of her work and life, tracing the connections between her interior and exterior worlds through a sequence of essays, poems, photographs, and diaries, brilliantly translated by Maya West and e. yaewon & Paige Aniyah Morris. A book of reflections, of words and light, it has at its heart the tiny, north-facing courtyard garden at her home, cultivated solely through the reflected sunlight of the mirrors which she must move throughout the day, as the earth turns on its axis. In a poem written at eight years old, Han Kang imagined a "gold thread" of connection--an idea which she explores here with luminous attention, beginning with her Nobel Lecture. She writes of the wonder of following the thread we call language into the depths of other hearts, and her profound sense of an electric current which joins writer and reader. Both intimate and illuminating, Light and Thread is a book for all readers of Han Kang's unique body of work.

WINNER OF THE NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE 2024Like a long winter’s dream, this haunting and visionary new novel from 2024 Nobel Prize winner Han Kang takes us on a journey from contemporary South Korea into its painful history‘One of the most profound and skilled writers working on the contemporary world stage’ Deborah LevyBeginning one morning in December, We Do Not Part traces the path of Kyungha as she travels from the city of Seoul into the forests of Jeju Island, to the home of her old friend Inseon. Hospitalized following an accident, Inseon has begged Kyungha to hasten there to feed her beloved pet bird, who will otherwise die.Kyungha takes the first plane to Jeju, but a snowstorm hits the island the moment she arrives, plunging her into a world of white. Beset by icy wind and snow squalls, she wonders if she will arrive in time to save the bird – or even survive the terrible cold which envelops her with every step. As night falls, she struggles her way to Inseon’s house, unaware as yet of the descent into darkness which awaits her. There, the long-buried story of Inseon’s family surges into light, in dreams and memories passed from mother to daughter, and in a painstakingly assembled archive documenting a terrible massacre on the island seventy years before. We Do Not Part is a hymn to friendship, a eulogy to the imagination and above all an indictment against forgetting.Translated by e. yaewon and Paige Aniyah Morris‘A vital voice and a writer of extraordinary humanity. Her work is a gift to us all’ Max Porter‘A remarkable novelist who reflects our modern condition with courage, imagination, and keen intelligence’ Min Jin Lee
Guardé El Anochecer En El Cajón / I Put Away the Evening Inside a Drawer
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE 2024 The author that has captivated millions of readers around the world with novels such as The Vegetarian and Greek Lessons surprises us and dazzles us as a poet as well. In I Put Away the Evening Inside a Drawer, Nobel Prize in Literature 2024 Han Kang reveals herself as a great poet that inspires after her most celebrated fictions. The "evening," that ambiguous space between two lights, becomes the backdrop of a wounded and intelligent voice that speaks of loneliness, disease, the meeting between the living and the dead, the fragile strength of words, a need for art. Without knowing the details of the anecdote that spurs the poem, the readers, however, enter a space of immediate and powerful intimacy that ends up making them participate in a special everyday transcendence. It is a delicate poetry, dark, unsettling, and tremendously visceral, that puts body and emotions at its very heart. As the author told The New Yorker, "Language is like an arrow that always misses its mark by a narrow margin, and it is also something that conveys emotions and sensations that produce pain."
