The paintings of Charley Harper, a lifelong nature enthusiast, have delighted art and animal lovers for more than seven decades. With his distinctive use of geometric shapes, patterns, and vivid colors, Harper distilled the essence of each bird, animal, insect, or tree to its most important details - as he said, "Instead of putting everything in, I try to leave everything out. I call it 'minimal realism.'" Harper's paintings and posters have been published by a variety of nature- and conservation-oriented organizations. With his elegant, minimalist method of depicting wildlife, Harper transported viewers into the natural world via lively but self-described "flat" images. His paintings of various ecosystems and, above all, brilliant birds, emphasized hard-edged simplicity.

I'm a Therapist, and My Patient is a Vegan Terrorist: 6 Deadly Social Media Influencers
The Explosive Conclusion to the Dr. Harper Therapy series I'm a therapist, and I've worked with the wildest internet celebrities... A vigilante who treated humans as factory farm animals. A germaphobe who warned of the next major plague. My own best friend. A rapist who got cancelled online - and in real life. A psychic medium with a disturbing prediction. And the last patient I ever worked with: The one who asked me to take them off life support. It all started with a big social media festival on a little island. We were promised endless days of sunshine, beach bonfires under the stars, and a chance to party with the world's most renowned influencers. Instead, we were lucky if we made it out in one piece.
I'm a Therapist, and My Patient is In Love with a Pedophile: 6 Patient Files From Prison
The highly anticipated sequel to I'm a Therapist, and My Patient is Going to be the Next School Shooter I've counseled the most chilling criminals... A young inmate who fell in love with a pedophile. A man who intentionally infected strangers with HIV. A patient with an extremely unusual addiction. A sociopath who wanted to have a conscience. A conspiracy theorist who harassed victims of a terrorist attack. And the patient who still haunts my dreams: A boy sold into human trafficking. In these files, you'll learn about the the psychology behind the world's most dangerous criminals. But you'll also learn about me -- and the worst thing I've ever done.
I'm a Therapist, and My Patient is Going to be the Next School Shooter: 6 Patient Files That Will Keep You Up At Night
I'm a therapist, and I work with the most dangerous patients. I've seen it all... A boy who planned to be the next school shooter. A patient with OCD whose loved ones really did suffer every time he missed a ritual. A choir boy who claimed he was being molested -- not by a priest -- but by God Himself. A patient with PTSD who gave me nightmares. A husband and wife who accused each other of abuse, and only one of them was telling the truth. And how could I ever forget, Patient #220. The problem is, my patients have a habit of dying. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the common denominator. Or maybe that's just the cost of taking on exceptionally broken clients. Either way, I'll never stop trying to help.
A Guide to the Draper Manuscripts

A Guide to the Draper Manuscripts

In the 1840s the Wisconsin Historical Society's first director, Lyman C. Draper, gathered outstanding materials such as the Daniel Boone papers, which include Draper's interviews with Boone's son, and the papers of Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark. These two collections alone are of vast significance to frontier history before 1830, but the full collection comprises nearly five hundred volumes of records, including military and government records, interviews, Draper's own research notes, and rare personal letters. For scholars, genealogists, and local historians, the Draper papers offer a wealth of information on the social, economic, and cultural conditions experienced by our frontier forebears. The 180-page index lists thousands of names and is an indispensable guide for all who wish to use the collection, which is available in libraries across the country on microfilm.
Animal Signals

Animal Signals

Maynard Smith; Harper

Oxford University Press
2003
nidottu
Why are most animal signals reliable? This is the central problem for evolutionary biologists interested in signals. A number of theoretical answers have been proposed and empirical studies made, but a considerable amount of confusion still remains. The authors, one a theoretician the other a fieldworker, introduce a sense of order to this chaos. They disentangle the complex and often confusing terminology that characterises the subject, and then challenge the widely held assumption that there is only one correct explanation for signal reliability. The authors argue that the reliability of signals is maintained in several ways, relevant in different circumstances, and that biologists must learn to distinguish between them. In this book they explain the different theories, give examples of signalling systems to which one or another theory applies, and point to the many areas where further work, both theoretical and empirical, is required.

Financial Economics

Financial Economics

Eichberger; Harper

Oxford University Press
1997
nidottu
Financial Economics is an exciting new field of study that integrates the theory of finance and financial institutions into the main body of economic theory. In doing so, it draws on insights from general equilibrium analysis, information economics, and the theory of contracts. Financial Economics is a self-contained and comprehensive introduction to the field for advanced undergraduate and post-graduate economists and finance specialists. It develops the main ideas in finance theory, including the CAPM, arbitrage pricing, option pricing, and the Modigliani-Miller theorem within an economic framework. Students of economics are shown how finance theory derives from foundations in economic theory, while students of finance are given a firmer appreciation of the economic logic underlying their favourite results. Financial Economics provides all of the technical apparatus necessary to read the modern literature in financial economics and the economics of financial institutions. The book is self-contained in that the reader is guided through branches of the theory, as necessary, in order to understand the main topics. Numerous examples and diagrams illustrate the key arguments, and the main chapters are followed by guides to the relevant literature and exercises for students.
Framing the Margins

Framing the Margins

Harper

In this dramatic re-reading of postmodernism, Phil Harper contends that the fragmentation considered to be characteristic of the postmodern age can in fact be traced to the status of marginalized writers of the thirties to fifties: West, Nin, Barnes, Allison, Brooks. Disempowered by circumstances of gender, race, and sexual orientation, these writers (Harper argues) display a postmodern sensibility that is specifically rooted in their status in society.
