Jean Olwyn Morris (nee Deans) had an incredible heart for God, spending her entire adult life in ministry, independently and alongside her husband, while also raising 5 children. After her death in 2014, a box was found containing the notes from the many many messages she had delivered over the years. Her eldest daughter, Helen, has used these notes to re-create her messages and to share with you all the incredible insights Jean had into life, family, and the word of God. Many of these ministry years were with the Salvation Army, and this book focusses mainly on messages delivered in that time.
A witty and warm memoir about growing up with the help of a very special cat - from Helen Brown, internationally bestselling author of Cleo and other tales of the beloved cats in her life... Who was the first pet you ever loved? The youngest daughter of an eccentric engineer and a musical theater fanatic, Helen Brown grew up in the New Zealand coastal town of New Plymouth in a crumbling castle overrun by nature, and overshadowed by nearby, beautiful Mount Taranaki. It's 1966, the Pacific islands are being used for atomic bomb testing, and her parents and siblings are swept up in their own lives. Twelve years old, struggling in school, and facing eye surgery--for the second time--Helen feels lonely and lost. . . . Until her father gives her a three-month-old, gray-and-brown tiger-striped tabby with extra toes on each paw. Noticing an M design on the cat's forehead, Helen names her new companion Mickey. Inquisitive, rambunctious, clever, and skittish, Mickey disrupts the already quirky household with his mischief. But Helen finds love, joy--and herself--in learning what it means to care for a living creature who needs her as much as she needs him.
In volume 2 of Conversations with Myself, Helen has been living through one of the worst droughts in Australia's history, and of course, the Covid-19 pandemic that shook the world. What did God have to teach her through these experiences? Walk with her through farm life in isolation, and find out

Is going to heaven a guarantee if you're a good person? The entire world tries to convince us of this, but what if this is simply false?Like most people, first-time author Helen Brown struggled with life, God, and doubt. She recognized that much of what the world declares does not align with our physical and spiritual presence. It wasn't until she questioned the true meaning of our existence in this world and started to read God's word in the Bible, that the clarity started to unfold.Sharing her own investigation, Helen explains how we have been misled to believe in our own characterization of goodness and, with that, the false assurance of a heavenly afterlife.Expecting Heaven... takes you through the illusion of today's modern worldview, challenges you to contemplate your life on earth from a biblical perspective, and encourages you to think about how important it is to understand where you will spend eternity.
