Book is the biography of Helga von Schweinitz, ne P rtner, from 1937 to 1958 when she married Hans von Schweinitz. Helga lived in Herford Germany during World War II and later emigrated to Milwaukee Wisconsin USA. Her experiences are chronicled as a child during the war, attending the Gymnasium and obtaining an Abitur, and emigrating into the USA.

German-Texan Heritage Society inherited the German Free School Building from Kelly Stevens in 1991. The first four years were full of important events while the building was being restored, renovated, and modified to make it functional. The building is once again a school and a cultural center.
