Die psychoanalytische Padagogik bezog den "Sozialen Ort" ihrer Klienten von Anfang an in ihre psychodynamischen Uberlegungen ein. Das szenische Verstehen und die Gestaltung einer hilfreichen Beziehung stehen hier im Mittelpunkt, da auf eine Deutung des Unbewussten wie in der psychoanalytischen Therapie verzichtet werden muss. Aktuelle psychodynamische Ansatze in der Sozialen Arbeit sind in der Kindheitspadagogik, in der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe, der Sozialpsychiatrie oder in der Supervision verbreitet.
