Kevin Cahill is a typical young teen trying to find his way through life. He has his parents who love him and friends which are almost like family. As his life becomes routine, he is suddenly struck with tragedy, his father disappears. His friends try to comfort him, but there is nothing that they can do in this situation. His friend, Jake, and his sister, Nicole, had experienced their father walking out on his family a year before. That incident greatly affected Jake. Kevin's friends do their best to help him, and he learns the value of good friends. Ed Cahill, Kevin's dad, works for NASA as a supervisor with the deep space satellites department. Ed's assistant, Sylvia Shields, feels that Ed's disappearance is related to national security. The FBI is notified and agents Nathan Rave and Dee Amato are on the case. Will the FBI be able to find Ed Cahill? A friendly group of beings are aware of what is happening and decide that something must be done. They send young Fergus to befriend Kevin and find a way to rescue Ed Cahill. Eventually, Kevin and his friends are abducted. All seems lost. Isolated in a large empty room, they formulate a plan. They all come to realize that each of them must succeed in their mission or all is lost. Under extreme pressure, each of them embarks on their prospective assignment. A series of shocking events occur. There comes a time when we all must make hard decisions. Kevin must make a difficult decision that would require him to leave his home, family, and friends for a period of time, maybe forever. What should he do? What would you do?

For centuries creative people in all fields have had a thinking place - a private retreat where they have worked regularly, hoping to find inspiration. The authors have chosen thirty-one creative people who vaulted from their thinking places to well-deserved fame or international recognition. These special retreats varied from architectural jewels to humble huts to chosen sites in nature itself. George Bernard Shaw's was a simple garden hut with one window and one door - and a turntable underneath. Shaw captured the prevailing sunlight with a push and a turn. In their journeys, Carolyn and Jack Fleming discovered that many thinking places still seem to exude an atmosphere of creativity. The Flemings have recorded the details of their searches for you, the reader to duplicate - in reality or in imagination. In their travels the authors discovered much little known information, which they have included in sprightly written vignettes. What was Charles Dickens' long kept secret? What beloved figure did Life magazine proclaim "the unofficial president of the United States"? Who received what the U.S. Patent office states is the most valuable patent ever issued? What two leading educators rose from slavery and extreme poverty to world-wide fame? The reader will discover that the thirty-one people selected were as intriguing as they were creative. Besides descriptive journeys, vignettes and thinking places, the reader will also receive thirty-one instances of lagniappe, a Cajun word for "a little something extra". Read Thinking Places and see what something extra may be in store for you.
