She joined the Close Doesn't Count League in 1984. She and her many friends attended several World Horseshoe Tournaments starting in 1987 and going until 2013. Edie McKinney handwrote the many journal entries included. Jane Smith typed them up. Penny Steinke compiled all of Gloria's treasures in The Tales of Traveling Horseshoes.
