It's time to put the sizzle back into your life. At one time, you had the world in the palm of your hand. You were full of optimism, feeling like you could literally conquer anything that came your way. Then life threw a curve. Sure, you might have a steady job, a good career, and the security you thought you needed. But where's the sense of fulfillment you were supposed to be feeling? And can you ever get it back? Jane Wilson was once where you are now. An early childhood educator and preschool teacher whose inner spark was fading fast, she did the unthinkable-quit her job, with no safety net or plan B. And then she opened a pole dance studio. (Yep, you read that right.) As she reclaimed her life, her health, and her body, she rediscovered beauty, strength, and fearlessness not only in herself, but in others, too. Now, in this honest, practical, and radical guide to living more courageously, she is sharing her own challenges and triumphs, alongside real-life case studies of friends and clients who found their swagger-on the pole and beyond. (Psst, there's even a behind-the-scenes glimpse of burlesque legend Dita Von Teese ) With writing prompts and to-do lists at the end of each chapter, Jane coaches you through the steps towards a bigger, fuller life (whether you take those steps in stilettos or flats). As you move along this journey, you'll become stronger, more confident, more connected-even sexier. Whether you're experiencing loss, going through a major life transition, or simply tired of just going through the motions every day, your membership in the Up To No Good Club is waiting. Come on in, and begin the journey back to your fierce, bodacious, mesmerizing self.
This is the debut volume of this popular series, sharing writing from May, June and July 2015.
Leslie Colquhoun was a man who flew high in more ways than one. Enlisting with the RAF at the start of World War 2, he had no sooner got his 'wings' than he was plunged into the thick of battle after being effectively kidnapped by a Malta-based squadron to help fight off German attackers during the notorious siege of the island. After the war, having received a Distinguished Flying Medal, Leslie became a test pilot, taking part in attempts to break the air speed record. He then turned his skills to a new invention, the hovercraft, testing early prototypes and taking charge of the world's first regular passenger service in 1962. During Les' relatively brief periods on the ground he helped his wife Katie to raise four daughters, one of whom, Jane, has written this affectionate portrait of her 'modest, gentle' father, a man who was also exceptionally courageous and skilled.
