Chef is an elegant, angry novel ... worthy to stand among the finest of Indian writing, while also being different' - Irish Times‘Singh writes of a beautiful place that dances on the razor wire of India and Pakistan's disputed border. His prose redefines an exhausted situation, giving it new light' - The Times_______________Shortlisted for the 2009 Commonwealth Prize for Best Book and nominated for the 2010 International IMPAC Dublin Literary AwardKip Singh watches India pass by his window on the slow train to Kashmir. Timorous and barely twenty, Kip arrives for the first time at General Kumar's camp and is placed under the supervision of Chef Kishen, a fiery, anarchic mentor who guides him towards the heady spheres of food and women. Though he is Sikh, Kip feels secure in his rightful allegiance to India, the right side of this interminable conflict. But when he comes across a Pakistani ‘terrorist' with long, flowing hair, swept up on the banks of the river, everything changes... Mesmeric and lyrical, Chef is a story of hope, love and memory.

Modern manufacturing techniques like rotary-ultrasonic machining are typically used to process materials with high hardness or brittleness, such glass, quartz, ceramics semiconductor material etc. Consequently, rotary-ultrasonic machining may offer an approach to solve the issue of polyvinyl butyral glass material's machinability. In contrast to thermal based machining methods, the machined surface produced by rotary-ultrasonic machining has been found to be free of any surface defects delamination, cracks and heat affected zone. In order to better understand the machining efficiency in rotary-ultrasonic drilling of polyvinyl butyral glass material, an attempt has been performed.

-Deep time is time / that can not be erased"With empathy and playfulness, with startle and delight, Jaspreet Singh explores the fragility, beauty, and sorrow of the dreaming and waking worlds. a work of remarkable intellect," wrote the poet Donna Kane about How to Hold a Pebble. In Dreams of the Epoch & the Rock, Singh deepens his exploration of climate, language, migration, decolonization, and the Anthropocene with an energy both acrobatic and intimate. Interweaving the personal, local, global, and geologic with hidden histories, these poems invite possibilities and defy neat closures, leaving readers with an indelible view of deep time. An ancestor's words in a diary, a child's chalk drawing, solar panels that smile like an ancient god, the Great Oxygenation Event: the gaze of these poems is vast, eclectic, and awestruck, while also remaining clear-eyed about the futures that await our planet. Her unironed face / smiling on behalf of the earth. You don't have such words in your language / You don't have such words in your language

How do we scale up our imagination of the human? How does one live one's life in the Anthropocene? How to Hold a Pebble--Jaspreet Singh's second collection of poems--locates humans in the Anthropocene, while also warning against the danger of a single story. These pages present intimate engagements with memory, place, language, migration; with enchantment, uncanniness, uneven climate change and everyday decolonization; with entangled human/non-human relationships and deep anxieties about essential/non-essential economic activities. The poems explore strategies for survival and action by way of a playful return to the quotidian and its manifold interactions with the global and planetary. Of loss no scale remains no seawall... Between one's despairs / they will brighten / Hope's in-built traces.
Impact Analysis of Power Quality Problems of Transformers
INTRODUCTION1.1 GENERALThe electrical power distribution system is designed to supply electric energy aseconomically as possible, with an acceptable degree of reliability and quality. In a powerdistribution system, the distribution transformer is the most important apparatus. The role ofthe transformer begins at generating station as the power is generated at the maximum value of11 VK at generating stations in India and is far away from the load centers. This powerneeds stepping up to extra high voltages for reduction of current and subsequent lossesduring transmission.
