La Quintaesencia de la Meditacion / The Quintessence of Meditation: Los Brahmaviharas: Amor, Compasión, Alegría, Ecuanimidad / The Brahmaviharas: Love
Some of the most fascinating meditations that exist in the Indic contemplative traditions are the so-called "brahmaviharas" (divine abodes of Brahma), also known as the "immeasurable four" loving-kindness, compassion, empathic joy, and equanimity. They are considered an essential element in achieving awakening, as they form the basis of how harmonious human relationships should be structured and are used in meditative absorptions and the cultivation of stillness. With the rigor that characterizes him, Javier Garc a Campayo analyzes the history of these meditations (common to Buddhism and the yoga tradition), the Buddhist texts that develop them, synthesizes the existing scientific evidence about their achievements and offers complete instructions for cultivating them. It also includes a series of preparatory meditations aimed at resolving the main obstacles that arise in practice.

This book is a manual for self-application of the Attachment-Based Compassion Therapy (ABCT) protocol, that can be either self-applied by any individual in a psychoeducational context or as a support for a therapeutic process guided by a professional. Compassion therapy is a third-generation psychotherapy that has been used in association with mindfulness in recent years. In particular, attachment-based compassion therapy (ABCT) is a protocol that can be used in both the general and psychiatric population with the aim of promoting compassion and self-compassion. ABCT is based on attachment theory and, therefore, includes practices to raise awareness and/or address maladaptive aspects, where appropriate, of the attachment styles developed with parents. This process is taught as a form of both compassion and self-compassion in order to improve present-day interpersonal relationships and well-being in general. In the face-to-face group format, ABCT has been demonstrating efficacy and applicability for healthy people and for the treatment of fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders. This book presents a self-applied version of ABCT that operates along the lines of the original model and has been adapted and developed to be fully self-applied via the Internet in 8 sequential modules:Introduction to attachment-based compassion therapyPreparing ourselves for compassion: kind attentionDiscovering our compassionate worldDeveloping our compassionate worldUnderstanding our relationship with compassionWorking on ourselvesUnderstanding the importance of forgivenessConsolidating the practice of compassion The content is presented through texts, pictures, tables and figures, including links to downloadable audio files for formal meditation practices with specific guides and instruction for each meditation. The transcripts to each guided meditation are also included as appendices.

From contemplative traditions to scientific evidence. In many societies dreams have been considered as the door to another world, in which the predictions received through this means were considered sacred: prophets, saints and mystics have received teachings from the gods through dreams. In mainstream psychoanalytic trends, dreams are associated with the unconscious and have a therapeutic nature. With an amazing capacity for synthesis, Garc a Campayo analyzes what lucid dreams are, and which techniques are used in each culture that is developing them, what they can be used for and what it is that modern western psychology contributes to their understanding? This is the first book in Spanish where all the existing techniques to develop lucid dreams are reviewed, their effectiveness is described, a progressive planning is proposed to develop them and an exhaustive analysis is made of how they can be used for our personal growth.

In most spiritual traditions deconstructive "self" meditations and non-duality experiences are considered the pinnacle of contemplative practice. Therefore, they have remained semi-hidden for centuries. The arrival of Buddhism and Hinduism to the West during the 20th century generated unprecedented worldwide interest in the practice of meditation. The phenomenon of mindfulness is a great example. However, deconstructive practices remain unknown to the general public and have only just begun to be studied by science and psychology. This is one of the first books in the Spanish language that comprehensively reviews the vision that Eastern traditions that have emphasized the deconstruction of the "self" - such as Buddhism, Taoism and Advaita Vedanta - have taught on this subject . It describes the main meditative practices designed by the human being to try to dilute the feeling of "I". In this way, readers can get to experience some glimpses of what non-duality and the deconstruction of the "self" means.
