In the months since Carter Nash, the Last Mage, stopped the demons from unleashing Hell on Earth, things have changed in the town of McLain, Mississippi. Dark Nation is the third in the Vampire War series. The DSA task force has remained inactive for several months. Meanwhile, the Corruptor has taken control of the government and military. The military has begun sweeping the nation to turn citizens into vampires or inter them in "blood farms" as cattle to produce food for the vampires. A vision received by the shaman of the lycanthrope tribe harboring the remains of the task force sends the Nemesis, Alex Chance, and a few others on a quest to find the power that will signal the end of the vampire reign. The final installment of the Princess Agenda takes the team, now known as Shadow Squad, into direct conflict with the Trae-Shan forces. Princess Aileen leads them to Tritia Prime, the Trae-Shan homeworld, where a truth is revealed and a solution is presented, but it's not the solution either side had planned.

Development begins immediately following the conclusion of the previous installment, Exposition. The Princess has gained the authority necessary and has learned that the Trae-Shan has constructed a powerful new ship. By dividing her team into two squads, Shadow and Lumen, they will attack the facility where the prototype of this new ship has been constructed to steal both the ship and the plans.

Exposition picks up immediately following the previous installment, "Rescue," and follows Aileen's quest to prove to the powers that be that she is the true princess and heir to the throne of Valdria. Along the way, she encounters resistance, political maneuvering, a traitor, an assassination attempt, and discovers those who are truly loyal to her cause.

A minister has purchased an old campground with the intention of returning it to its former glory.
