This book provides a comprehensive, detailed, evidence-based review of the seven animals officially described as ‘dangerous’ by the professional association of Field Guides in South Africa. To this number the authors have added crocodiles. The text embraces the anatomical, physiological and behavioural aspects of the animals and aims to provide such up-to-date and evidence-based information as is available at the time of writing. It was developed in part for apprentice guides studying so-called dangerous game who might need a concise yet thorough, evidence-based learning tool to supplement their lectures. The decision to limit the book to ‘dangerous game’ was mainly due to the fact that most visitors to the bush, when asked by their guide what they most wished to see, give the name of one of these animals. This is notwithstanding the enthusiasm of all guides to interest their guests in every aspect of the bush and not limit their exposure to the large and/or dangerous species. Describing and discussing the key features of each animal within one volume makes this valuable to all users, whether used in the bush, for study or general interest. It should be borne in mind that, with some rare exceptions of ill-luck, almost everything you meet in the bush need not actually be dangerous for those who are sensible, prepared and educated. But it is vital to remember that we, the visitors, professionals and guests, are the interlopers. We are on their turf. The authors are two qualified Field Guides who have travelled through the African Bush both in vehicles and on foot for over 25 years. As well as qualifying to lead parties on foot in dangerous game areas they have spent a considerable period of time teaching apprentice guides at a well-known guiding school in South Africa.

We strive to properly divide God's Law and Gospel as we bring the good news of salvation by grace through faith to our community. Each devotion, when recorded, is less than two minutes long, which provides a challenge to concisely speak of God's grace, love, and mercy.

The devotions in "Turn Your Radio On" were aired each weekday from March to December, 2020. They are part of the outreach from Trinity Lutheran Church, Slayton, MInnesota, a congregation affiliated with the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod.

I have come to love wildlife, and because Im a photographer, I also love photographing wild animals. When I look into the eyes of an animal, I see a soul, and I want to get to know that soul. I belong to a civic group that brings disadvantaged youth to the Phoenix Zoo. Most of the youngsters have never visited a zoo before. When the tram makes the first turn and the children see the animals for the first time, their squeals and cheers of excitement bring me great joy. I want to bring that joyous first look to more people and further help them understand animals as complex beings just like you and me. Almost everybody has seen a giraffe, for example, but they have not had the opportunity to get to know that giraffe and feel a connection with it. I believe that if I can help more people actually see wildlife as they live and learn more about the animals, then more people will appreciate them and love them as I do, body and soul.

Walking in the Ardennes covers 32 day walks between 2 and 24km and one multi-stage route, the Sentier du Nord. The Ardennes region in southern Belgium overlaps into Luxembourg and France and features rolling hills, deep valleys, rivers and wide reaches of forest. Walks take in WW2 battlefields, medieval castles, towns and villages.

The concept for this book developed from a series of advent sermons I heard several years ago. During each of the four weeks of advent, a different main character was presented from the passages in Matthew and Luke. It was a fascinating series and piqued my curiosity, leading me to ask, "Wouldn't it be interesting to take a look at each of the individual characters involved in the Christmas story?" I later incorporated the idea into a series of Sunday School lessons, expanding from the four original characters in those advent sermons. As I began to do research on each of the main characters I came across Galatians 4:4. It was at that point I realized there was so much more to the nativity narratives than just the story of Christ's birth in a manger with shepherds attending and wise men visiting later. God's plan for a redeeming sacrifice to atone for all sin followed a perfect time schedule set forth by God. His control over all things displayed such precision as He moved people's hearts and changed their plans. He allowed major events in history to occur at the proper time while also allowing minor events in people's lives to take place at specific moments. All of these came together "when the time was right". As you read, it is my hope you will be encouraged by the knowledge of God's concern for you in every area of your life and of His sovereign control over this world and its events. I also hope you will discover again, perhaps from a new perspective, the wonder of the Birth of Christ.
