Jennifer Clark's fourth poetry collection, Intercede: Saints for Concerning Occasions, presents saints as surprisingly relatable figures-imperfect, flawed, and very much like us. Some are cranky, dour, and humorless, while others are kind, brilliant, and even funny. Through moving poems, stunning illustrations, and Clark's witty, insightful commentary, the saints in this collection come to life beyond their legendary feats. Rather than focusing on miracles, Intercede pulls back the curtain to reveal the human side of sainthood, inviting readers to explore deeper truths. These saints guide us to unexpected places, pushing us beyond our comfort zones into sacred, unfamiliar landscapes where we catch a glimpse of the divine.

Arguing that American colonists who declared their independence in 1776 remained tied to England by both habit and inclination, Jennifer Clark traces the new Americans' struggle to come to terms with their loss of identity as British, and particularly English, citizens. Americans' attempts to negotiate the new Anglo-American relationship are revealed in letters, newspaper accounts, travel reports, essays, song lyrics, short stories and novels, which Clark suggests show them repositioning themselves in a transatlantic context newly defined by political revolution. Chapters examine political writing as a means for Americans to explore the Anglo-American relationship, the appropriation of John Bull by American writers, the challenge the War of 1812 posed to the reconstructed Anglo-American relationship, the Paper War between American and English authors that began around the time of the War of 1812, accounts by Americans lured to England as a place of poetry, story and history, and the work of American writers who dissected the Anglo-American relationship in their fiction. Carefully contextualised historically, Clark's persuasive study shows that any attempt to examine what it meant to be American in the New Nation, and immediately beyond, must be situated within the context of the Anglo-American relationship.

Just Read! is a reading education system that supports and teaches students wherever they are in their reading journey. It offers fluency practice from letter recognition and phonological awareness all the way to reading comprehension, allowing educators to briefly assess a student and begin work exactly where they are. Based on a Multi-sensory Structured Language Education (MSLE) approach to literacy acquisition, the system provides structured and sequential instruction in reading, and each aspect is based on current research and practice. After introductory material and a screening assessment tool, the Teacher's Manual is in three parts. 'Decoding Plus!' contains a range of drills and passages at five levels so teaching can be tailored to students, while 'Fluency Plus!' and 'Comprehension Plus!' each offer fifteen stories designed to build concepts and skills in a cumulative way. The accompanying Student Workbook contains parent-friendly blank versions of the exercises for a student to complete.

Satan a Socialist-Really?Conspiracy Theory or Fundamental Truth of the AgesSatan Is a Socialist stirs up a lot of social, political, and spiritual questions such as: What are the real differences between free enterprise and socialism?Just how important are the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution? What is the real cause of today's turmoil in the streets and homes? What does the Bible say about socialism/communism?Dr. Jennifer B. Clark and her husband Dr. Dennis L. Clark take on this declaration that Satan is a socialist with forthright answers and bone-chilling conclusions that every citizen needs to know. Satan Is a Socialist will surely generate riots of souls and protests of spirits in all who care about their country.Topics in this book include: Freedom and Free EnterpriseSatan and the SaviorWealth and PovertyPolitics and PowerSatan is a Socialist explores deeply the foundation of the United States of America and presents biblical and historical facts, truths, and common sense that are seldom seen or heard on any media outlet. The authors profoundly and rightly proclaim: America's brilliant Founders judged politics and governments according to freedom. Tyranny was cruel and oppressive while anarchy was violent and unstable. One was total law, the other was no law. They realized that true freedom reflects a balanced center, where citizens could live in the most freedom possible-yet within an ordered and stable society, sliding neither into tyranny or anarchy. Thomas Jefferson called this balanced center People's Law.Brace yourself for the reality of life on the brink of a whole new worldview-up close and personal.

The city of the future, we are told, is the smart city. By seamlessly integrating information and communication technologies into the provision and management of public services, such cities will enhance opportunity and bolster civic engagement. Smarter cities will bring in new revenue while saving money. They will be more of everything that a twenty-first century urban planner, citizen, and elected official wants: more efficient, more sustainable, and more inclusive. Is this true?In Uneven Innovation, Jennifer Clark considers the potential of these emerging technologies as well as their capacity to exacerbate existing inequalities and even produce new ones. She reframes the smart city concept within the trajectory of uneven development of cities and regions, as well as the long history of technocratic solutions to urban policy challenges. Clark argues that urban change driven by the technology sector is following the patterns that have previously led to imbalanced access, opportunities, and outcomes. The tech sector needs the city, yet it exploits and maintains unequal arrangements, embedding labor flexibility and precarity in the built environment. Technology development, Uneven Innovation contends, is the easy part; understanding the city and its governance, regulation, access, participation, and representation—all of which are complex and highly localized—is the real challenge. Clark’s critique leads to policy prescriptions that present a path toward an alternative future in which smart cities result in more equitable communities.

"A Beginner's Guide to Heaven" is not so much concerned with moving earth towards heaven, as it is with yanking heaven to earth. Even amidst our haste, failures, distractions, and worries, it's all within reach. The poems invite us to see the mystery in the every day, and revel in the wonders of such things as moths, dandelions, dogs, and beer. These poems serve as a gateway to the inner journey. They remind us we are one holy family cut from the same cloth, spiritual explorers of this beautiful, broken world. This collection urges us to pay attention and get to work, "while we still have time to build."
