In this blending era when distinctives in doctrine and practice are carefully minimized or routinely ignored by the majority of religious entities and are unknown to the religious community and to the public at large, the necessity for clarity in the proclamation of those practices and doctrines that identify Baptists has never been more needed. A half-century ago when I entered the ministry, the basic doctrines and practices that have identified Baptists for nearly two millennia were common knowledge in this nation.Keep the Ordinances is a call to reemphasize the doctrines and practices that once clearly distinguished Baptists.

In the garden of Gethsemane, did Jesus of Nazareth pray that God would find some way to let Him avoid dying on the cross? Why would He do that? Was He scared? Was He fearful? Was He afraid of the agony and pain of dying on the cross?When He was dying on the cross, did God turn His back on Jesus of Nazareth? Was He angry with Jesus? Did Jesus become sin or a sinner and that forced God to forsake Him?Confusion at Calvary answers these questions. The Scriptures are accepted as the only source for the solution. The prophetic announcements of what would occur are weighed with the Gospel records and the testimony of the Epistles of what did occur. The questions are examined carefully and extensively and are answered in the negative.Jesus of Nazareth did not pray that God would let Him avoid the cross.God did not turn His back on Jesus on the cross.

Faced with the potential infiltration of Calvinism, a pastor wrote materials to warn and to equip his congregation. He wrote without rancor or polemical fervor and yet with the firmness and candor required to counter the covert actions.
