Sam Hosler began his career when he learned rope tricks when he was four years old. Like a latter-day Will Rogers, he used his rope to entertain people and tell stories. He became a writer, political activist, movie star, and world traveler. His friend Henry Wakefield remembers Sam on the day that Sam died.

Leonard Conrad has traveled, but this is his first trip to the North Pole. He is there to write a story about Santa Claus and about the rebellion Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is leading against Santa Claus.
