This book completes a series on Paul's Letter to the Romans. Chasing Truth focused on Chapters 1-8 of the Letter, All Israel Shall Be Saved focused on Chapters 9-11. This final installment is a discussion of Chapters 12-16, which illustrates the practical application of the truths of the previous two books, providing a proper conclusion to the study. Paul's Letter to the Romans lays the foundation of the faith he delivered to the Christian churches he founded in the first century. All subsequent assemblies, in order to carry out their rightful mission, should pattern their teaching and service to God according to Paul's pattern. It is the author's opinion that departure from the teachings in Romans is the cause of weak faith in believers, and inadequate preparation needed to successfully build up the church, which is Christ's Body.

Paul's foundational letter to the Romans is placed within the commonly accepted scripture structure as the initial letter from one of the apostles to the churches in the first century, BC. Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus, was by his own account one of the most prominent Jewish scholars, thoroughly versed in the history of his nation, as well as the particulars of the Law of Moses. In the early days of church history, immediately following the crucifixion and ascension of Jesus Christ, Saul of Tarsus was one of the fiercest opponents of the sect known as Christians, initially known by that name in the ancient city of Antioch. The Lord dramatically saved Saul as he approached Damascus in Syria with orders from the Jewish Sanhedrin to capture and return Christians for trial in Jerusalem. Knocked to the ground, and blinded, Jesus instructed him to continue on to Damascus to be prayed for by a Christian, Ananias, at which time he would recover his sight, receive his new name, and begin his new career as the apostle to the nations.

Paul's letter to the Romans sets a foundation of truth applying to all Christians seeking to understand the gospel. The first eight chapters contain a summary of the elements of faith that Paul purposed to teach all believers to help them obey and live the truth. The first eight chapters of his letter to the Romans are discussed in detail with a view to aiding those who read Chasing Truth to find the truth they earnestly seek. The manuscript that follows is a line-by-line discussion of the first eight chapters of Paul's letter to the Romans. The goal is to keep the discussion in line with the verses and to expand on words or phrases where appropriate. As I have studied the letter over the past twenty-five years, I have sought to understand the words from the perspective of those who were at Rome at the time of Paul's ministry. Their access to supplementary material was surely limited. But there were Jewish believers in Rome who could provide background material for the truths Paul sought to teach. This small work is not intended as an exhaustive commentary of Paul's monumental masterpiece. Romans are viewed by many scholars as the foundation and truth source for the study of the scripture.

From Shiraz to Chardonnay, wine has been an essential part of the Jewish and Christian religious experience for millennia. These early traditions continue to influence today's robust wine connoisseurs offering a fascinating history and an assortment of varieties to discover. Here, wine expert Joel Butler teams up with biblical historian Randall Heskett for a remarkable adventure that explores the drinking habits of biblical figures 3,500 to 2,000 years ago. Along the way, they discover the truth behind how wine infiltrated the biblical world and astounding facts that any wine lover can take to their next tasting, including: * why the Fertile Crescent was the birthplace of wine * how the expansion of the Roman Empire resulted in the first wine connoisseurs * the myths of the Phoenician, Greek, Roman, and Jewish wine gods * how wine came to be used in sacrifices and other rites * why Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine Divine Vintage also takes a close look at wines made with ancient techniques, and guides readers on how they too can experience these ancient wines today.
