Chett and Harry are two recently unemployed construction workers on their way to a weekend of Southern Comfort, and frog gigging at their favorite hunting camp when they stumble on Bob, the mysterious, busty, burqa-clad, non-English speaking beauty just standing in the middle of nowhere on the side of dusty Nine Mile Cutoff in rural Bovina, Mississippi. Then all hell breaks loose. Their favorite pond is missing. They're being chased by truck driving zombies, dirty cops, UFOs and other ne'er-do-wells. Someone stole Chett's jacked up Scottsdale four-by-four. Zombies are traipsing around their trailer, and crazy Uncle Crank is trying to feed them zombie chicken for dinner. Aided by a classic computer nerd, a crazy man wielding a frying pan, and a space babe who gets nekkid any time someone turns out the lights, follow Chett and Harry as they battle their way across the rural countryside and ultimately save the world.

Anyone suffering from the Global Warming Blues will cherish this uplifting account of the most ambitious environmental experiment of our time: Biosphere 2, a miniature Earth under glass and the world's largest laboratory for global ecology. John Allen's memoir, ME AND THE BIOSPHERES is a rich and complex narrative, filled with rollicking adventure, exceptional camaraderie and mind-bending science. Covering three acres of Arizona desert, Biosphere 2 contained five biomes: a 900,000-gallon ocean with coral reef, a rainforest, a savannah, a desert, a farm and a micro-city, all housed within an air-tight, sealed glass and steel frame structure. Eight people lived inside for two years (1991-1993) setting world records in human life-support, monitoring their impact on the environment, while providing crucial data for future manned missions into outer space. Me and the Biospheres is an account of the singular life John Allen has led: his travels to Egypt, Vietnam, Nepal, Tibet and India, his meetings with people like Buckminster Fuller, William Burroughs, Charles Mingus and Ornette Coleman. From building developments in Iran to adobe houses in New Mexico, from Harvard Business School to cafés in Tangiers, from board meetings in Fort Worth to mystical moments with Sufi sages, John Allen has impacted millions of people with manifest integrity. His humorous memoir is a tribute to the ingenuity and dauntlessness of the human mind.

On 29th January 1962 in Rome, the Venerable English Collge, the oldest English insitution abroad, clebrated its sixth centenary. Although itself a 16th century foundation, established in 1579 to train priests for the English Mission, the College has direct continuity with the Hospice of St Thomas, established on the site in Via di Monserrato in 1362 to cater for English pilgrims in Rome. The College was created out of the buildings and church of the Hospice; indeed, Pope Gregory XII's Bull of Foundation provides for their reversion to this use should the College ever be dissolved. It has been said of this part of Rome that it 'is forever England' - Cardinal Wiseman, on his arrival at the College in 1818, wrote: 'One felt at once at home ... it was English ground, a part of the fatherland, a restored inheritance'.To mark the sexcentenary in 1962, the student at the English College in Rome produced a special edition of the house magazine, The Venerabile, which looked in depth at the early history of the institution from the foundation in 1362 to the transformation into the English College in 1579. Long out of print this volume provided an invaluable introduction to the study of the English community in Rome during this early period, so a facsimile edition, with a new introduction by a leading scholar, Dr Margaret Harvey, should be especially welcome. The story of the English Hospice and the foundation of the College is part of the heritage of all Catholics in England and Wales.
