Twenty-eight short Bible devotionals selected from books in The Sparks Series. The pieces provide a taste of topics already published (questions Jesus asked and other people asked Him, and living in the kingdom of God) and of topics to come (guidance, finding our identity, faith, worship, the names of God, what it means to be like Jesus, prayer, and more). - Each piece is short enough to be read in a few minutes and together can be used daily for a few weeks. - Each one considers at least one Bible verse, and some life application is encouraged. - The pieces are designed to stimulate deeper reflection and spiritual maturity, which includes an application to life.Think of them as sparks that God can use to help your spiritual growth. May they ignite a flame in your brain that fires up your thinking, races to your heart, and jumps from the tips of your fingers, toes, and tongue. Feed the flames so that your thoughts turn to passion and your passion to action. May it be of such an intensity that, everywhere you walk, every life that you touch begins to glow in turn.
The Kingdom of God: Our life with Jesus the King
What is the kingdom of God? Why is the kingdom of heaven such good news for us? And how do we live the kingdom lifestyle? How did Jesus intend us to seek first the kingdom of God? This collection of thirty-eight short devotional Bible studies contemplates those questions and explores our life with Jesus the King. It examines the miracles and message of Jesus about the kingdom, including the Beatitudes, the Sermon on the Mount, and parables like the parable of the sower (also called the parable of the soils or seed) and the mustard seed. The book can be used as a devotional and for group Bible study in a small group or book club. It will help the reader to grow in spiritual maturity by obeying and living the life that Jesus taught and demonstrated because obedience is God's love language. Living it doesn't depend on our determination or gifting; in the kingdom business, the King guides us and supplies everything we need to do His will.

The Linen Shawl: A 12th Century English Tale of Love and War
HE THOUGHT HE'D NEVER FIGHT, OR KILL ... he was wrong.HE THOUGHT HE'D NEVER LOVE AGAIN ... he was wrong about that too.Bestselling author John Avery's novel, THE LINEN SHAWL, immerses readers in 12th century England's fierce civil war, weaving a tragic love story into an historical thriller that will grab hold of your heart and never let go."Avery's narrative is nicely woven and has all the elements of a good novel which is love lost, love found, turmoil and uncertainty. You have to read this book to the very end. The ending is unpredictable and makes one wonder if there could be a series " -- 5-star reader review"The Linen Shawl drew me in instantly ... I could picture this book as a movie I hope to read any other historical fiction by this author. He is certainly creative with his stories. I took a chance on this author and I am glad I did " -- 5-star reader review"John Avery has produced an admirable work of an historical thriller " -- 5-star reader review"This was a very compelling book for me. It was a story about man's struggles set against the backdrop of the rivalry for the throne of England. It says a lot about the author that he added such details of the 12thcentury to the story. The way this history moves in and out of Noah's story really added to the overall quality of the book. The one thing that I really enjoyed about the book was the characters. The relationships between all of the different characters was the driving force of this story. It wasn't just the story of Noah and his ward, Nest, but how all the characters were interwoven. While Noah was by far the main character, and this was his story, it was almost like he was a connecting point for all of these different people. And I found myself just as involved in Rachel's, Barriemore's, and even Lord Warin's storylines as I did the main one. It was that, more than anything, which kept the pages turning for me.The ending wasn't quite what I wanted after reading the book, but it definitely fit the theme of the book. While it wasn't how I envisioned it, I can't stay that I'm disappointed with the way it turned out.Overall, I highly recommend this book. Anyone who has an interest in the early British setting and the characters of that time will enjoy it. It was a great way to spend a couple of lazy days at home " -- 5-star reader reviewAnd don't miss Avery's bestselling Aaron Quinn thriller series, THREE DAYS to DIE and BLACK COBRA

An insightful journey through all the biblical names of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Beginning in Babel and ending with a burning Babylon, "The Name Quest" explains the significance that the different names for God have for an everyday relationship with God and for spiritual growth. The names of God are like a rainbow--each name expresses part of the spectrum of the character and attributes of God. Along the way, the author tenderly answers tough questions: Which of the Hebrew names of God is His personal name--Yahweh or Jehovah? What does it mean to pray in Jesus’ name? How can we relate to the Holy God and the Judge? Why is a God of love called the “Jealous God”? What does it mean to call Jesus the Messiah? "The Name Quest" mentions all the names of God in the Bible while explaining their significance in ordinary language. The author weaves together fifteen years of Bible study research with plentiful illustrations and humorous anecdotes. These include lessons learned as a pastor on a Caribbean island. A visit to a Welsh hill farm introduces a chapter about the Good Shepherd. The story of a Hungarian political prisoner illustrates the meaning of Immanuel (or is it Emmanuel?) A rescue from the slopes of an active volcano helps explain salvation and the meaning of Jesus’ Hebrew name Yeshua. Even the clever advertisement on a packet of potato chips offers a lesson about how to grow in faith in God. Unlike chasing rainbows, the spiritual journey has an end. "The Name Quest" is a road map for every Christian’s spiritual journey and it points to the destination--being formed into the image of Jesus Christ.

The· simplest picture of an atom, a molecule or a solid is the picture of its distribution of charge. It is obtained by specifying the positions of the atomic nuclei and by showing how the density, p(E), of the electronic charge-cloud varies from place to place. A much more detailed picture is provided by the many-electron wavefunction. This quantity shows not only the arrangement of the electrons with respect to the nuclei, but also the arrangement of the electrons with respect to each other, and it allows the evaluation of the total energy and other properties. The many-electron wavefunction is in principle obtained by solving the many-electron Schrodinger equation for the motion of the interacting electrons under the influ ence of the nuclei, but in practice the equation is unsolvable, and it is necessary to proceed by methods of approximation. Needless to say, .such methods will as a rule depend on the complexity of the system considered.

Five Stars " - Jill Allen, Foreword Review "I truly got lost between the pages of this wonderfully told story - though I did cringe and even cry sometimes and wanted to hit someone at other times, which is totally against my nature. Progress, Poverty and Population
This work traces the history of a debate which took place among the economists, political philosophers and writers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, about whether the benefits of scientific progress would be nullified by the growth of the global population.
