A Sermon Preached at Whitehall Chapel, at the Consecration of the Right Reverend Father in God Beilby, Lord Bishop of Chester, on Sunday, February 9, 1777. By John Briggs,
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. The first and only book for collectors of cast-iron Bundt pans. Includes pans from both the US and Germany. Many of the cast-iron foundries in Germany were converted to support the German military during WWI and WWII. Unfortunately for these foundries, this made them prime military targets. The result was many of the foundries were destroyed, along with all their records, catalogs, patterns, and molds. Little information was left behind for collectors to research and catalog the foundry marks on many of the collectible pans cast in Germany. Known manufacturers covered include the following: Berkley Machine Works and Foundry Co. Buzuluk a.s. Cousances–Le Creuset Eisenwerk Lauchhammer Eisenwerk Martinlamitz GmbH Frank’sche Eisenwerk GmbH Gottbill ser Erben Eisenwerk Griswold Manufacturing Co. Frank W Hay and Sons J. C. Roberts John Wright Company Lodge Manufacturing Co. Savery and Co. Wagner Manufacturing Co. Wegierska Górka Eisenwerk Železárny a Smaltovny Bartelmus a.s. The author has spent years researching and compiling one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of American cast-iron bundt and European gugelhupf pans in the world. Besides documenting and cataloging the known American Bundt pans, the author exhaustively researched foundry archives, catalogs, and brochures in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Poland, gathering information on more than 75 previously undocumented cast-iron gugelhupf pans. The book contains more than 500 images and includes information on identification, rareness, and values.

Contrary to Plato's teaching, we need poets, not this Quarrel of Philosopher Kings arguing over who owns what. It was God's poetic speech, the ""Let there be. . ."" that created, from nothing, the very world philosopher kings fuss over. It was the poetic speech of Jesus that fed the masses with a couple of fish and a bit of bread. It was his poetry in the beatitudes and parables that opened our eyes to the fat world. And it was his death on the cross that opened a way between our transactional, skinny world and his transformational, fat one. The poems in this book chronicle one man's journey between these worlds. This journey is not the easy, transactional one prose natters on about (""Just say and do this or that and you will be saved""). This journey requires us to let go of the landmarks that guided us through the skinny world and to have the faith to embrace the fat one. The trip is dangerous, frightening, and requires the poet in us to rise and cry, ""I, too, create "" But this journey is also crucial to becoming fully human and, thereby, the Friends of God rather than just his followers.

Our backs are against the wall. What will we do to win? Starship Captain Joaquin Lafontaine's life is forfeit: his actions in a war against the genocidal Jaari Star Empire have led to a massive defeat and loss of life. His punishment? Death. Or so it seems. Whisked away in the dead of night, Joaquin is conscripted into a top-secret Mobile Infantry initiative: The Avatar Project. It promises to turn him and his fellow prison conscripts into super soldiers, and to allow them to right their wrongs against the United Planetary Coalition with military service. However, the project isn't what it appears to be. Joaquin and his new friends will discover the true nature of their physical and mechanical upgrades and understand just how desperate the Coalition is to eek out a victory in a brutal, bloody war that they are losing. Together, the Avatars must work together and fight as one, lest they fall prey to the insidious nature of the project. Will Joaquin and his friends survive and reclaim their humanity? Or will the project claim their minds, bodies, and souls? John Briggs has decades of experience in science fiction, and writes intense, thought-provoking novels with dark themes and humor.
