A Beginner's Guide to City Gardening Sustainable and Organic Gardening In Limited Space Table of Contents Introduction Planning Out Your City Garden Situation and Shape Drainage and Soil Choice and Supply of Plants Tools Tool Maintenance Fertilizers Nutrients for the Soil Annual Digging Compost Heaps Garden Waste Why Compost Making a Compost Pit Manuring the Garden Watering Maintaining an Established Garden Conclusion Author Bio Introduction What do I mean by city gardening, you may ask? There was a time, when people had large open areas just outside their door steps in the town, or in the "country", and all they had to do was fence it off and try to tame it. But as more and more people started migrating to cities, the available space for gardening began to be lessened. That was because concrete jungles came up, where once we had green fields. Suburbs on the outskirts of cities still had lots of land where gardens could grow, but for all those living uptown downtown and Midtown in Flats or in closed blocks, limited spaces and detached and semi-detached houses, one had to make do with imaginative and constructive ideas, with which they could still be in touch with greenery around them. Boxes and plant containers on windowsills have been a part of city gardening. You as a city gardener know that you have just limited resources in terms of space. That is why you have been to know how to adapt these limited resources to gain the satisfactory end you desire - that to have a garden in your house, or just outside your window sill, or in a room, or in your backyard. People are afraid to experiment in looking at all the options open to them, when they want to make a city garden in limited space. So they keep to potted geraniums, some sad looking chrysanthemums and other seasonal flowering plants, and possibly a little creeper. On the other hand, if you have been brought up in the country, and have spent a major portion of your life surrounded by plants, it is possible that you are instinctively going to have a knowledge of plants and their needs. And you are going to bring this knowledge along with you to the city. This knowledge does not come innately - you need to be surrounded by gardeners. Also, trial and error on your part and advice from experienced experts who in their time have tried and erred and then imparted that knowledge to you for your benefit, is going to help you make a really nice city garden. This book is for all those beginners who are dreaming of their own garden in which to relax and also for experienced gardeners, who want some extra tips and techniques with which they can improve their gardens.

Their health benefits have been documented with the passage of time and are now being tested in the light of modern scientific researches; looking at the results of these researches, there is a good reason why you should consider reading the rest of the book A stalwart nut in cakes, puddings and other sweat dishes, almonds have been on almost every household's shopping list. With respect to freshness, they are always preferred to hazelnuts & walnuts and their slow rate of rancidity makes them a food item that can easily tolerate the back of a storage cupboard. Their neutral, nutty and crunchy taste upon baking makes them irresistibly delicious and in no time can you nibble your way through every almond in front of you. But what are the origins of this super-delicious and nutritious food? Almond is actually a species of trees, belonging to the genus Prunus, which are indigenous to the South & Middle East region of Asia. The almond plant is widely cultivated for its edible seed, also known as almond. The almond tree is a deciduous one and grows 4-10 m in height; it has a trunk of diameter 30 cm. The twigs when young are of green color but become purplish as soon as they are exposed to sunlight. In the second year the twigs become grey and the leaves grow 3-5 inches long. The flowers are characterized by white to pinkish color, 3-5 cm diameter and usually consist of 5 petals. The fruit matures in the autumn, about 8 months after flowering but still for an economic bearing, one more year is required. The fruit is about 4-6 cm long and in specific terms is not exactly a nut, but rather a drupe. A drupe is a fruit in which an outer fleshy part surrounds a shell containing a seed but instead of being fleshy the outer part of the fruit is thick and leathery in texture. Inside this hull is a hard, woody shell which packs the edible seed known to many as almond. The seed acquired from the woody shell is covered by a thin brownish skin, which when pealed reveals the inner color of almond; i.e. off white. Almonds can further be categorized into two types: i.Sweet Almonds ii.Bitter Almonds

The size of their herds can range in number anywhere from 100 walruses to more than 1,000 An adult male walrus is called a bull. The female walrus is called a cow. The reason that walruses lay in the sun is to keep warm. Although their color is usually a reddish brown, when they lay in the sun, their skin can turn pink in color. It is actually good when their skin color changes to pink. That is a sign that the walrus is warming up. The walrus also has its thick blubber to protect them and keep them warm from the freezing cold waters of the Artic. This layer of blubber is under the skin of the walrus, and can measure to over 5" thick. When walruses are young, their coat is a deep colored brown. As the walruses grow older, this color begins to change. Their color gets lighter, and looks more reddish brown. When male walruses become old, the color of their skin turns mostly pink. When a walrus is swimming, they can look almost white in color. This is because the cold water makes their skin blood vessels become tighter and narrower. A walrus can stay up to 30 minutes underwater before they must surface for air. The walrus can actually slow down their heartbeat so that they can stand up to the icy cold Artic water temperatures. Most groups of walrus will travel south for the winter months, then turn around and head north for the summer. The male walruses have air sacs that can be found by their neck. These air sacs are very useful. One thing it helps them to do is make loud, deep roaring sounds. These sacs can also fill up with air. When they inflate, the walrus can stay afloat in the water vertically so that he can go to sleep. Their nostrils stay closed when they are resting. Both the female and the male walruses have tusks, but it is the males' tusks that are slightly longer. These tusks will continue to grow over their lifetime. A female's tusk can measure 2-1/2 ft long, while, a male's tusk can measure over 3 ft. long The scientific name for walrus is Odobenus rosmarus. In Latin, this name actually means, "tooth walking sea horse". The walruses' whiskers, also known as mystacial vibrissae, are also very interesting. They can have as many as 13 to 15 rows of whiskers that are 12" long. That could mean as many as 400 to 700 total whiskers Many times, walruses that live in the wild, do not have whiskers that reach that long. They are always using their whiskers to look for food at the ocean's bottom, so their whiskers are shorter.

Goats and humans What do goats eat? Goats and their appearances How do goats act? Pygmy Goats Australian Goats Boer Goats American LaMancha Goats Dwarf Goats Landrace Goats Alpine Goats Angora Goats Cashmere Goats Mountain Goats Conclusion Author Bio Introduction Did you know that goats won't eat just anything? They're actually very picky eaters. This is in spite of many sources showing them eating everything from homework to tin cans. Goats are very interesting creatures; they have been domesticated (herded and raised by humans) for longer than people have had a written language. Goats aren't a bit part of modern day life for most people, but they have long been a source of food, clothing, and other goods for people the world over. Goats are good for milk, fibers (to make fabric out of), skin, meat, and their horns. They are similar to sheep in a lot of their uses to humans, and it's no wonder, because they're cousins. Domestic animals include dogs, cows, sheep, cats, and horses; the goat is one of many. However, they are unique among their fellow domestic animals in many ways.
