La conservazione della natura diventa sempre pi un problema che richiede l'attenzione di tutti. L'esplosione demografica, l'ineguaglianza nella conquista e nella distribuzione della ricchezza, l'inquinamento e l'incuria politica, insieme al sottosviluppo economico di vaste aree del nostro pianeta, portano a esigenze stringenti, tra le quali un ruolo importante spetta al controllo delle piante invasive. Le sovvenzioni governative per un impianto pilota integrato di R&S con quattro fabbriche e due laboratori in cui gli studenti di biotecnologia portano avanti progetti di ricerca reali che aggiungono valore alle piante esotiche e invasive, utilizzando per lo pi tecnologie non convenzionali e metodi innovativi, rendono questa iniziativa unica in Sudafrica e nel mondo. Tra i risultati dei progetti sviluppati negli ultimi sedici anni vi sono pesticidi naturali, prodotti per lo sviluppo del suolo - MEOF, regolatori della crescita delle piante, farmaci naturali/erboristici, biodiesel/biocarburante e altri nuovi prodotti.

Die demografische Explosion, die ungleiche Errungenschaft und Verteilung des Wohlstands, die Umweltverschmutzung und die politische Vernachl ssigung zusammen mit der wirtschaftlichen Unterentwicklung gro er Teile unseres Planeten f hren zu dringenden Erfordernissen, unter denen die Kontrolle invasiver Pflanzen eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Staatliche Zusch sse f r eine integrierte F&E-Pilotanlage mit vier Fabriken und zwei Labors, in denen Biotechnologiestudenten reale Forschungsprojekte durchf hren, die einen Mehrwert f r gebietsfremde Unkr uter und invasive Pflanzen schaffen, indem sie meist unkonventionelle Technologien und innovative Methoden anwenden, machen diese Initiative einzigartig in S dafrika und in der Welt. Zu den Ergebnissen der in den letzten sechzehn Jahren entwickelten Projekte geh ren nat rliche Pestizide, Bodenentwicklungsprodukte - MEOF, Pflanzenwachstumsregulatoren, nat rliche/pflanzliche Arzneimittel, Biodiesel/Biokraftstoff und andere neue Produkte.

As subven es governamentais para uma f brica-piloto de I&D integrada com quatro f bricas e dois laborat rios onde os estudantes de biotecnologia trazem para a vida real projectos de investiga o que acrescentam valor s ervas daninhas e plantas invasoras, utilizando sobretudo tecnologias n o convencionais e m todos inovadores, fazem com que esta iniciativa seja nica na frica do Sul e no mundo. Entre os resultados dos projectos desenvolvidos durante os ltimos dezasseis anos contam-se pesticidas naturais, produtos para o desenvolvimento do solo - MEOF, reguladores de crescimento de plantas, medicamentos naturais/herbais, biodiesel/biocombust vel e outros novos produtos.
