Suffering: if God exists, why doesn`t he stop it?
If God exists, does he care about his evolving, suffering world? Most answers are unsatisfactory. Morris's book is different: short but not superficial, strong in its science and philosophy, and realistic as a carer of a handicapped teenage grandson, still unable to walk and talk. Like Stephen Hawking and Einstein, John Morris also tries to explore the mind of God. Violence began with the Big Bang, long before legendary Adam's sin. Morris believes God is typically non-interventionist but constantly interactive, operating creatively within his own physical laws, that allow freedom to particles and people, resulting in innovations and mutations, not always beneficial. Compared with other religions, Christ's cross and resurrection give more historic hope in a God who suffers alongside us, to create good, responsible persons. Here is a 100-minute read, of interest to believers and atheists alike. Its brave conclusion gives reasonable grounds for thinking we live in a loving God's best possible world, despite unavoidable suffering and natural disasters.

Imagine, the world Jack was born into, no longer exists. Faced with the utter destruction of all life on Earth, can our heroes survive? The Great Ogre continues to wage war with all the other Tribes, confounding chances of survival, when the primordial forces of Mother Earth are unleashed upon a mainly unsuspecting human nature. In a ripping yarn, The Wrath of Gaia depicts a vision of the end of the world, completely original, entirely believable, and based in geological evidence. Amid fast-paced, spicy action, survivors struggle with their daily existence, displaying humour, and they are also led to question their deepest beliefs: Are religions innately misogynistic? What of the balance between Man the hunter, and Woman the creator of life? What greater evil, was evoked in the concept of 'original sin'? What is the nature of God-a deity, or was humanity created by an Alien race that came to Earth millions of years ago? That hypothesis, as presented in this book, is difficult to refute. Humanity has no common antecedent with the Great Apes. Did a race of star faring Ancestors create the missing link-create us? What is the elusive kernel of 'original truth' when it comes to our shared Humanity? What ties us together might also wrench us apart. Once we know where we came from, Once we know who we are, How will we discover where we are ultimately going: Star Gazer, Second Trilogy...

The Twelve Tribes, continues the compelling story of Jack's life. The beginning introduces several new characters, most notably Kay, The Dark Elf. She and Jack discover much about the Ancestors, their spacecraft, and the history of all humanity. We learn the Ancestors created the Twelve Tribes of humanity in their own image, by cloning and manipulating their own DNA, and that of existing proto-human, homo habilis, and creating their first prototype, homo ergaster. The Shaman, an enlightened being, becomes more closely interwoven within the plot, as The Elven Prophesy indicates all Twelve Tribes must be reunited to save humanity from The Wrath of Gaia. The problem being, The Great Ogre, despotic Overlord of the Tenth Tribe, is determined to subjugate or exterminate all sentient life on planet Earth, and a series of battles ensues.

Conspiracy Theory, Book Two of the Fractured series, is a mystery and espionage thriller that continues the story of April Bekkons and Annaliese Braun; damaged, but not broken by events no young girl should have knowledge of. They raise themselves to do what is necessary to save themselves, others, and eventually their country, from destruction. The book picks up directly from the last line of Inner Sanctum, and introduces Michael. From the apparent ramblings of this crazy man, the plot coalesces to bring in the Sheriff's department and FBI, who with support of the Secret Service, set up a task force to track the threat nationwide. They discover a terrorist plot to destroy the American system of government, and have to prevent the immanent launch of undetectable, nuclear missiles. The science described in the story is real and documented within the context of the novel. Using a series of bizarre localized disasters, real military science, and a nefarious cabal that links them together, the plot weaves a tale of conspiracy theory made real. It just might come true. The book features strong female lead in the form of April, who when all appears lost, allows nothing and no one to stand in her way. Using Kung Fu skills, computer hacking, and wisdom beyond her years, she is determined to save the day. The book is set in contemporary San Diego, and is written in American English.

Who are you in your heart? Who will you become? Who will travel with you as your boon companion? Shona Waverly is a fugitive from her mother's plans to sell her as a child sex slave. Searching for her own Inner Sanctum, she creates a family. Rosa becomes the mother of her heart, who teaches her the skills she needs to survive. Annaliese, a fellow seeker, is the sister who will fight at her side. Teves is their guardian. Through a change of identity, participation in the ROTC program, and the backlash of revenge, Shona and Annaliese have an opportunity to evaluate their roots and come to terms with the parents who should have guided them. Inner Sanctum offers hope, help, and a model for those who struggle to raise themselves. Through confidential sharing, the girls form a formidable team, fighting against past and present injustices. Death, revenge, and remorse are just some of the milestones they encounter. When Shona, now known as April, realizes that for her life to move on, she must confront her mother, Annaliese has words of advice. "April, you don't need a gun to go see your mother." "Hmmm. Maybe I do." It is refreshing to read a book where the two main characters are strong female role models, and the main topic of conversation is not which boy they like. Although products of adversity, they never back down from any challenge, but rise to overcome everything the brutality life throws at them. It is notable that the supporting male characters never once take precedence; this remains the story of two adolescent girls from front to back cover. Although categorized as Young Adult, Urban Fiction, the strength of the book, will appeal to a wide range of readers, both male and female. The book flows seamlessly into Conspiracy Theory, the second book of the Fractured series. Book Two is a fast-paced mystery and espionage thriller, again featuring April and Annaliese as the main characters.
Culture and Propaganda in World War II
The wartime period in Britain is now seen as an extremely fertile period of British creativity in music, film and art. Often, these projects were funded and supported by the government, who saw its role as a custodian of British culture, and by extension, of British values, at a time when those values seemed under great threat. In the late thirties the Nazi Party had stressed the superiority of Germanic culture and the promotion of Richard Wagner and Carl Orff was central to Hitler's cultural program. In Britain, the War Office under Winston Churchill chose to promote Edward Elgar and Hubert Parry, but also to appropriate and 'de-Nazify' Ludwig van Beethoven- whose Fifth Symphony was used extensively in wartime broadcasts and has since become synonymous with VE Day. Meanwhile, the work of Ralph Vaughn Williams, whose music was commissioned by Powell and Pressburger for use in 49th Parallel, reclaimed a particularly English past stretching back to the Tudors. While artists such as John Piper, Eric Ravillious and Evelyn Dunbar produced works specifically commissioned by the state which were intended to commemorate and glorify Britain, the British Council and the BBC played an active role in commissioning and broadcasting their musical equivalents. In film, Humphrey Jenning's documentaries were designed to further push the wartime agenda, along with films produced by Ealing Studios. Here, John Morris assesses the history of this body of work, shedding new light on the period. A cultural history of music in wartime based on detailed archival research, Culture and Propaganda in World War II is essential reading for historians of the period, musicians, film scholars and propaganda analysts.

Contemporary Creed (revised edition) – Reasonable Pathways through the Problems of Christian Beliefs and Ethics
Unlike Richard Dawkins, the Contemporary Creed (revised edition) sees no conflict between evolution and God, faith and modern science. But what sort of God creates a violent universe with a Big Bang almost 14 billion years ago and appears to do little or nothing to prevent built-in suffering and natural disasters like earthquakes, famines, disabled children and cancers? The Christian God leaves a lot unexplained. Some writers give superficial answers whereas Morris, who helps care for his own handicapped grandson, gets to the root of difficulties and succeeds in finding credible pathways through sixty problems of Christian beliefs and ethics. He writes for believers and unbelievers: for Christians like himself who admit their doubts, and for atheists and agnostics interested in big questions. His unusual format of 90% prose and 10% original poetry is entertaining, and the style straightforward everyday language, offering conclusions that are often open-ended, undogmatic. His systematic theology becomes a brief A-Z that may be read in any order for individual Bible study, or by house groups that want a provocative structure for lively discussion.

The Jack the Ripper murders of 1888 continue to exert a macabre hold on the imagination over a century later. Among the first serial murders, their brutality and bizarreness, and the seeming impossibility of detection have a terrible fascination. What kind of person could have performed such horrific deeds, and could have overstepped the boundary of what marks humankind? How could they not have been caught by the huge police effort? The Ripper murders had a huge impact. Though not the first serial murders they were the first to create a worldwide storm of media attention and the first in which the killer was given a nickname. The term 'Ripperology' was coined for the study of the murders. Suspects have included the eminent Victorian doctor Sir William Gull, royal gynecologist Sir John Williams and the painter Walter Sickert. Conspiracy theories abound, involving Masonic, Jewish and other connections. Hundreds of books have been written about the murders, and several films made but the Ripper's identity remains a mystery. But perhaps no longer. Jack the Ripper: The Hand of a Woman is the result of extensive research by author John Morris and his late father. Starting with the many unresolved questions about the murders they concluded that they could be answered if Jack was in reality a woman. But who could she be? The story of their researches includes many twists and turns as they reach an all too plausible conclusion, naming a suspect and answering the question of why the murders started, and just as suddenly stopped.
