English Historical Documents is the most ambitious, impressive and comprehensive collection of primary documents on English history ever published. The volumes were published between 1953 and 1977 and have become landmark publications in their own fields. This exciting new volume covers the period from 1914 to 1957, bringing the series further into the twentieth century. The format of the series has been updated and the documents gathered here encompass the most up to date approaches to the material, covering political, social and cultural history. This volume includes informative introductory pieces for the parts and sections and editorial comment is directed towards making sources intelligible rather than drawing conclusions from them.

Haiku has changed.eggplants & teardrops: a haiku collection takes haiku into the 2020s, radically updating classic haiku conventions from the days of poetry greats like Matsuo Bashō and touching on contemporary subjects never before seen in the form. With a fresh, comedic style, Barry traces a life of social media, manga, and urban slang, looking at what it means to be broke, search for love in all the wrong places, and exist in a state of constant revision. In their impressive plurality, these poems are an expression of the next generation's most distressing, beautiful, and vulgar experiences, rendered through an ancient poetic tradition. Many of the poems in this collection have been featured across English-language haiku's most respected magazines, and now they've been artfully arranged for the first time and accompanied by thirty bold line art illustrations. * "A wonderfully hilarious collection. Barry has mastered the modern comedic form." -- Jay Friedenberg, President, Haiku Society of America "Witty and playful ... abstract and cerebral ... at other moments, personal, raw, and poignant. eggplants & teardrops offers us a fresh take on the daily experiences and anxieties of a new generation." -- Jacqueline Pearce, Award-winning Haiku Poet and Editor
Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892) was the last virtuoso of the Japanese woodblock print, and the One Hundred Aspects of the Moon, published between 1885 and 1892, were his crowning achievement. This series - mainly illustrating stories from history and legend, unified by the motif of the moon - is charged with paradox. In order to carry forward the tradition of ukiyo-e, Yoshitoshi drew stylistic inspiration from the very forces that were rendering it obsolete - namely, Western art and mass media like photography and lithography. As if they realised they were witnessing the end of an era, the artist's public responded enthusiastically to his innovative series - many of the individual prints were sold out on the morning of their publication. This magnificent facsimile of One Hundred Aspects of the Moon reproduces each print at its original size, facing an explanation of the subject. A thorough introductory text, augmented with many comparative illustrations, traces Yoshitoshi's career and the genesis of this series. Printed and bound to the most exacting specifications, this volume will be a must for aficionados of Japanese prints.
