After thirty years of people watching and collecting stories at social events, I would recount some of these stories and friends would say you should write a book, so finally, I have. Next time you visit a public house, hopefully after reading this book, you will have an insight into what is happening. When the conversation stops as you enter, it is not necessarily you; other customers may be checking that you are not the person they have been talking about. You will have an insight into why people move from one room to another, or couples are not what they first appear, to mention a few. My last job before I entered the pub trade was a lock keeper on the Shropshire Union Canal. Afterwards, I wrote a book called "A Towpath Guide To The Birmingham And Liverpool Junction Canal" (which was the section of the SUC I worked on). I wanted people who only travelled on the canal once to benefit from the knowledge I had gained over 12 years. The publisher did not pay me any royalties, so I am not sure how many benefited from this knowledge, but it is still for sale on Amazon. I hope people who read this book enjoy it as well as learn from it.
Dan Starkey reads this imaginitive original story featuring the Twelfth Doctor and Nardole."Time: the present. Place: Smalltown, USA. A town like any other. A sleepy world of white picket fences, front porch gliders and freshly-mown lawns, a Pontiac or Chevrolet in every driveway."But the streets are empty, with not a sound to be heard, and no-one to hear it if there was. Because this town is merely an empty stage, waiting for its players to take their parts. They're due to make their entrance any moment now, strangers in a strange land, somewhere in that timeless space known only as The Nightmare Realm."It's into this strange world of shifting sands that the TARDIS propels the Doctor and Nardole, who think they're in 1950s suburbia until an apparent nuclear attack takes them into far darker territory, with a series of terrifying consequences...Dan Starkey, who played the Sontaran Strax in the TV series, reads this unsettling original story by Jonathan Morris(P) 2021 BBC Studios Distribution LtdReading produced by Neil GardnerSound design by David RoocroftProject editor: John AinsworthExecutive producer: Michael Stevens

Coffee is a global beverage: it is grown commercially on four continents, and consumed enthusiastically in all seven. There is even an Italian espresso machine on the International Space Station. Coffee’s journey has taken it from the forests of Ethiopia to the fincas of Latin America, from Ottoman coffee houses to ‘Third Wave’ cafés, and from the simple coffee pot to the capsule machine. In Coffee: A Global History, Jonathan Morris explains how the world acquired a taste for coffee, yet why coffee tastes so different throughout the world.Morris discusses who drank coffee, as well as why and where, how it was prepared and what it tasted like. He identifies the regions and ways in which coffee was grown, who worked the farms and who owned them, and how the beans were processed, traded and transported. He also analyses the businesses behind coffee – the brokers, roasters and machine manufacturers – and dissects the geopolitics linking producers to consumers. Written in an engaging style and featuring wonderful recipes, stories and facts, this book will fascinate foodies, food historians and the many people who regard the humble coffee bean as a staple of modern life.

The Serenity Prayer states: Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.Exploring the prayer phrase by phrase, Morris shows the hope that can be found by gaining a deeper spiritual understanding of its words and by practicing its message. Enlightening and profound, The Way of Serenity includes moving narratives, illuminating historical anecdotes, and pertinent biblical passages that demonstrate the power of the Serenity Prayer to help us grow closer to God and find greater peace and happiness.
