This book investigates the multiuser communication and its key technology—multiple access technology, as well as transceiving design methods. Multiple access methods toward B5G and 6G currently allows the superposition transmissions of multiuser signals with controllable mutual interference. By deploying advanced multiuser detector, current technology significantly enhances the connectivity, improves the spectral efficiency and simplifies the signaling interactions. Considering that the major challenge of current multiple access technology is the design of transceiver due to the overlapped and distorted signals from multiple users, we analyze the promising candidate multiple access schemes and then develop some sights on how to formulate the transmit signals and how to achieve efficient symbol recovery. Specifically, the incorporation of constellation rotation, rate splitting and deep learning techniques in enhancing the transmission efficiency of multiple access technology are considered.

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a systematic approach for manufacturing companies to address product and process issues at the early development stage. Through inventive thought processes, early error elimination, and robust design, DFSS has dramatically impacted product quality and performance and increased profit. In this comprehensive volume, the four-phase IDOV — Identify-Design-Optimize-Verify — DFSS methodology is discussed in detail. The various practices from inventive design methodologies, deterministic and stochastic numerical methods, and the use of CAE simulation techniques, are mapped to the DFSS procedure. Many case studies are used to illustrate how tools are used in DFSS processes. Written by DFSS practitioners and technologists, this book is intended for any engineer to use as a reference in executing DFSS projects.
This book investigates the analytical framework and hybrid precoding scheme in millimeter-wave networks. Millimeter-wave communication is a frontier technology for supporting ultra-high data rate transmissions in future wireless networks due to larger bandwidth and higher spectral efficiency. However, the involved interference characterization and increased energy consumption are two dominant limitations in millimeter-wave network evolution. In this monograph, we develop a unified analytical framework for large-scale millimeter-wave communication networks, which leads to abundant network design insights and guidelines. Under this framework, we design low-complexity hybrid precoding algorithms for millimeter-wave systems, which greatly reduce energy consumption without obvious performance degradation. We would like to highlight that we develop a unified analytical framework and low-complexity hybrid precoding mechanisms for millimeter-wave communication networks, where a variety of millimeter-wave properties and hardware constraints are incorporated. The developed mechanisms can provide abundant insights and guidelines for the hybrid precoding design and analysis in millimeter-wave communication networks. Graduate students, researchers, and engineers in the field of communication networks can benefit from the book.

This book investigates the resource allocation in backscatter-assisted communication networks. With the development of backscatter communications, integrating backscatter communication technology into traditional communication networks can improve the network performance significantly. To fully improve the performance of backscatter-assisted communication networks, resource allocation is of special importance. It is worth to mention that the resource allocation in backscatter-assisted communication networks is more challenging than that in traditional communication networks, and the tradeoff of the performance between backscatter communications and traditional communications needs to be carefully considered. In this book, considering that game theory is an attractive tool for developing and analyzing distributed, flexible, and autonomous networks, we develop the auction-based time scheduling schemes, contract-based time assignment scheme, and evolutionary game-based access point and service selection scheme for the backscatter-assisted radio-frequency-powered cognitive networks, where some important properties such as individual rationality are considered. We also employ the optimization approach and develop a relay mode selection and resource sharing scheme for backscatter-assisted hybrid relay networks to improve the throughput. We believe that the developed resource allocation schemes in this book can provide useful guidance for the design of backscatter-assisted communication networks and future Internet of Things. Graduate students, researchers, and engineers in the field of communication networks can benefit from the book.
This book provides solutions to some of the issues present in the physical layer of current high-frequency wireless communication systems. It reviews the development history of high-frequency wireless communication systems, pinpoints certain existing problems in contemporary high-frequency communication systems, and proposes solutions. The 6th Generation Mobile Networks (6G) is based on terrestrial cellular networks and integrates satellite communication, drone communication, and marine communication to form an integrated air-ground-sea network, providing comprehensive coverage, high speed, high security, and multifunctional communication solutions. High-frequency wireless communication, represented by millimeter-wave and terahertz communications, offers a wide available spectrum and high transmission rates, making it a highly promising broadband wireless access technology in 6G. To achieve higher transmission rates (Tbps level), lower transmission latency (millisecond level), higher security performance (physical layer security), and stronger hardware integration (communication-sensing integration), high-frequency wireless transmission faces many challenges due to characteristics such as short wavelengths, high path loss, and weak components. These challenges include: Large link attenuation and poor coverage in high-frequency wireless communication systems, resulting in low spectrum efficiency for edge users.Low output power, poor linearity, and low efficiency of high-frequency power amplifiers, making it difficult to achieve long-distance transmission of wideband signals.High sidelobe energy in high-frequency multi-user secure transmission, leading to unfocused spatial regions and low transmission efficiency.Independent design functions and high information processing delay in high-frequency communication and sensing, causing wastage of spectrum resources and hardware resources. To address these challenges, the author has conducted innovative work aimed at improving the spectrum efficiency, power amplifier efficiency, transmission efficiency, and processing efficiency of high-frequency wireless transmission. The research findings have been published in high-impact journals such as IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Microwave Theory and Techniques, Broadcasting, IEEE Sensors Journal, and IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. Based on these foundations, this book is dedicated to discussing efficient transmission technology for high-frequency wireless communications with a focus on 6G. The book addresses fields such as signal processing, spectrum management, and high-efficiency sustainable communications. It is highly recommended for academic researchers, students, and engineers in wireless communication, terahertz communication, and electronic information fields.
This book presents a comprehensive framework for the theoretical analysis of space-air-ground networks using stochastic geometry. This analytical approach is indispensable for evaluating the performance of large-scale space-air-ground networks, which serve as critical facilitators for the advancement of the sixth-generation wireless communication aimed at providing high-speed broadband coverage for remote areas. By incorporating the features of topology and channel model in different tiers, this book investigates the key performance metrics in terms of load balancing, coverage assessment, and mobility management. The developed mechanisms provide effective design insights for space-air-ground networks while obviating the need for complex system-level simulations.
