Melissa Rogers is a happy healthy seventeen year old girl living in a small suburban town with her parents and two brothers. But Melissa does have a strange quirk. She likes to talk to herself whenever she has something on her mind. But not only does the girl 'think' aloud, she but also discusses certain 'people' aloud, and maybe that kind of 'loud thinking' should be left inside your mind. In the privacy of her own bedroom, Melissa talks about her friends in a not so caring way, and she does this in the presence of her beloved kitty cat, Buttons. Buttons is sweet and loving, and Melissa loves him and treats him like a best friend...confiding in him on a daily basis, and if Buttons were a 'diary', his pages would be full. But what Melissa doesn't know, is that Buttons is a very faithful and loyal pet, and he would do absolutely anything to make sure that his owner stayed happy. Melissa also doesn't know...Buttons can hear her every word.
Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater, had a wife but couldn't keep her. He put her in a pumpkin shell, and there he kept her...very well? Well, we're not so sure about that. In fact, Martha has a feeling that the horrible Peter Pumpkin is up to something. The dark-eyed, dark-haired handsomely wretched young lad, is behaving just a little bit stranger than usual these days, and when Martha's friends slowly start to disappear, one by one, from the forest, that is when things really start to get scary down in that pumpkin field.
Are you the one? The one person who saves me? Or will you be the one person who ends up pushing me over the edge. It only takes one person in your life to make a difference, in one way or another. It doesn't matter how many people you have in your family, or how many friends you have supporting you. All it takes is one. To matter. This is a Christmas story about a young depressed girl who meets up with an unlikely young fellow with similar issues who both consider themselves the 'black sheep' of the family. Although neither wants to be helped, good friendships can happen in the most mysterious of ways.
