This report investigates the potential software services within the Program Executive Office, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence that could be used as part of a service-oriented architecture.

An effort to bring international higher education to Georgians-particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-included a project in which San Diego State University partnered with three Georgian public universities to enhance the delivery of high-quality STEM bachelor's degrees. In this report, the authors assess the project's implementation, graduate outcomes, sustainability, and return on investment.

Defense planning faces significant uncertainties. This report applies robust decision making (RDM) to the air-delivered munitions mix challenge. RDM is quantitative, decision support methodology designed to inform decisions under conditions of deep uncertainty and complexity. This proof-of-concept demonstration suggests that RDM could help defense planners make plans more robust to a wide range of hard-to-predict futures.

This report highlights RAND s contributions to the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority s Master Plan. Its purpose is to help policymakers in other coastal regions understand the value of a solid technical foundation to support decision-making on strategies to reduce flood risk, rebuild or restore coastal environments, and increase the resilience of developed coastal regions."

In November 2012, Department of Defense (DoD) leaders held a two-day summit on improving diversity within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce. This report supports the efforts of the DoD STEM Diversity Summit by examining current STEM demographics, surveying current DoD programs and initiatives to improve STEM diversity, and offering recommendations for DoD leaders to consider as they move forward with their efforts to diversify the STEM workforce.

This report provides an overview of how standardized tests are used as part of a broader selection system for each of the services at different points in an officer's career, and a discussion of key issues that should be considered when using standardized tests, including the relationship between tests and racial and ethnic group differences, which could affect minority representation within the officer corps.
