L'intelligenza emotiva (IE) una componente importante dello sviluppo psicologico e sociale. Bassi livelli di IE sono stati associati a risultati negativi, ma sebbene alcuni di questi siano anche collegati al rischio di commettere reati, l'IE non mai stata un fattore preso in considerazione dagli YOT che lavorano con i giovani che commettono reati. Al fine di accertare se possa essere utile per i giovani nel loro percorso di desistenza lavorare sull'intelligenza emotiva come abilit , era necessario stabilire dei collegamenti tra questa e la loro delinquenza. Questo progetto di ricerca ha indagato se fosse possibile trovare delle associazioni tra IE e delinquenza, e una possibile comorbilit con altri fattori di rischio di delinquenza.

But increasing amounts of legislation and ASBOs neither seem to have addressed the real issues nor solved the problem, and may simply add to the frustrations of all those involved.
