This book, "The C.A.L.L.: Inspiring Stories For Young Men About Character, Accountability, Love, And Leadership," issues a clarion call to our young black men to stand up, step up and recognize their inherent greatness. Dr. Towanna Burrous Freeman, the mother of a young son, was harshly jolted by the tragic death of Trayvon Martin in Florida. She felt compelled to address the unique challenges facing young black men. To inspire hope and send forth a message of encouragement and affirmation, she issued a call-to-action to her network of male mentors, motivational speakers, business professionals, coaches and community leaders to share personal stories capturing the rich tapestry of their life lessons, experiences and wisdom. The stories in "The C.A.L.L." reflect the struggles, challenges, resiliency and triumphs that uniquely make up a part of the black male's journey in this country. It contains real life stories of coming into an understanding of identity, integrity, values, manhood, wise decision-making, persistence, reflection, course correction, and learning from consequences. Foundations are very important in any building and if they're laid correctly, can cause endless problems in the future, even more so in our lives, if the foundations we build upon are wrong or damaged in some way, everything we build is weakened and at risk. Book two in the series is entitled Building on the Foundations, and goes deeper in to some of the struggles we face in life's relationships or lack of them, and addresses our reactions to such experiences. Many have experienced abuse and rejection and the immense pain and wounds these create. Building on the Foundations looks at how we can become free through the process of time by the power of God to bring healing in our lives. Healing is another subject covered and what is written is not theoretical but reality proven in life, independently witnessed and proven by the medical profession. It's insight into critical life subjects are both life giving and life changing.
