Have you ever been in a problem situation where you hoped that some angel from above was looking out for you and would help? Perhaps you even spoke, in your mind or out loud, asking an angel to help you in your hour of need. However, what if an angel was in need of another angel looking out for them? It seems odd, but that is exactly what happened to a "missing angel."

In August 1869, Major Thomas Palmer briefs his officers that Captain Harold Preston, a fellow U.S. Army agent/spy, will be leading a 600-strong attack force of "ex-Confederate" cavalry of the Southern Conspiracy against the fort warehouses where artillery guns are stored, sometime during the night. One of the Officers speaks up... "Major Palmer, when they are attacking, how will be able to tell who your agent is?" Palmer answered..."You will not. My agent knows the risk he is taking and has prepared himself for the worst." Major Palmer is met with a bunch of amazed faces, each man wondering to himself if he would do the same thing in Captain Preston's place.

There is a belief that some individuals are being "watched over" by those above, sort of an Angel looking out for them. Have you ever been in a life threatening situation where you believed that you would not survive or be severely hurt, but something that seemed like a miracle had occurred to save you? If your answer is "yes," be thankful and see that your life makes a positive difference to others. Perhaps it was a miracle and that there is indeed someone above who is watching over you.

Each "Missing In Action (M.I.A.) Angel" assignment is to be with someone who is willing to give their life in combat to protect or save others. Some just need that additional bit of help to survive, while others need the presence of an "M.I.A. Angel" as they approach death. It's not easy being an "M.I.A. Angel" although it is many times rewarding. The downside it that sometimes there is nothing that can be done to help, other than the assignment knowing that an angel is with them when they die.
