Mouth, lips, tongue, and teeth—speech, pain, and screech—eating, swallowing, spouting off, and spitting—lust and passion: the oral cavity is an extremely stimulating zone of the body, in the truest sense of the word. Science and medicine are not the only fields that have investigated it, though. From antiquity to the present day, art and cultural history have done the same. The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg has pursued the wide-ranging path of this motif’s history in order to present the first comprehensive show about the mouth in the fall of 2020. The companion publication offers thematically dense essays that not only allow the reader to delve into the topic, but also go far beyond the exhibition itself. The mouth, its inventory and abilities, are closely examined through film history, ethnology, literary theory, and architecture.

The seduction-theory defines film in a broader sense as a medium of seduction, based on the French concept of séduction. It is a theoretical approach influenced by continental philosophy and classical film theory, linked to a three-stage analytical model. The book introduces the theoretical foundations and, using various classical and contemporary examples from film history, presents a genuine method of film analysis.

Es handelt sich um einen von kontinentaler Philosophie und klassischer Filmtheorie geprägten theoretischen Ansatz, mit dem ein dreistufiges Analysemodell verknüpft ist. Das Buch führt in die theoretischen Grundlagen ein und stellt anhand unterschiedlicher klassischer und aktueller Beispiele aus der Filmgeschichte mögliche Analyseansätze vor.

Ihr Einfluss reicht bis in die popul re Kultur der j ngsten Zeit. Mit SadicoNazista schuf Marcus Stiglegger eine intensive Analyse ber die Macht der Medien, Mythen zu kreieren. Am Beispiel des Films zeigt er auf, wie Geschichte im Prozess der Mediatisierung entpolitisiert werden kann und der mediale Mythos an die Stelle des Dokuments tritt. Dieses "Standardwerk" (Thomas Koebner) zum Thema wurde 1999 erstmals ver ffentlicht und international rezipiert. Die hiermit vorliegende dritte Auflage von SadicoNazista wurde behutsam aktualisiert und enth lt zudem ein w rdigendes Nachwort des Historikers Robert Sommer (Autor von Das KZ-Bordell).

Die Miniserie Holocaust, deren Ausstrahlung 1978 in den USA ca. 100 Millionen Zuschauer verfolgten, erreichte in West-Deutschland ein Jahr später etwa ein Publikum von 16 Millionen. Der Band leitet die Entstehung von Marvin J. Chomskys Holocaust aus der Tradition der TV-Familiensagas (z.B. Roots) her und untersucht nah am Material, welches Bild der historischen Ereignisse diese Fernsehserie und spätere Produktionen inszenieren. Zudem wird die Auswirkung der Serie bis heute verfolgt und veranschaulicht.?
