Maria Hall

Maria Hall har under ett par år rest runt i Frankrike för att uppsöka de platser där Carl Fredrik Hill målade sina mästerverk under andra hälften av 1870-talet och sin så kallade friska period. På sina konsthistoriska exkursioner fann Hall en del av Hills motiv helt intakta medan andra hade förändrats. De exakta platserna där Hill stått med sitt staffli dokumenterades. Genom sin grundforskning fann Hall till sin förvåning att några av Hills teckningar och målningar är felaktigt attribuerade. Dessa helt nya rön presenteras i denna bok. Boken består av ett rikt bildmaterial och en längre essä där Hills och Halls resor förs samma likt en väv. Den är formgiven av Patric Leo, som genom åren mottagit ett stort antal priser och utmärkelser för sin bokkonst.Maria Hall (f. 1964) har en fil. kand-examen i konstvetenskap vid Göteborgs universitet från 1988, en examen från Konsthögskolan Valand och Kungliga Konsthögskolan 1997 och är nu verksam som konstnär i Stockholm. Hon har tidigare publicerat essäer om konst i antologier och tidskrifter. År 2021 tilldelades hon av Konstakademien Axel Theofron Sandbergs stora akvarellpris. Carl Fredrik Hill (1849-1911) räknas som en av de stora i svensk konsthistoria. Efter några produktiva år i Frankrike, då merparten av hans mästerverk tillkom, insjuknade han och tillbringade sina sista 28 år i barndomshemmet i Lund. Från dessa år i Lund finns tusentals banbrytande tusch- och kritteckningar bevarade.
