Sarah Wright has found something of a routine in her unlife-if only the Universe would leave her to it. Existence is complicated for three primary reasons: Sierra, Sophia, and Sam... not to mention the various Forces of Evil(TM) trying to do their worst to her. Maybe the vampire tradition of separating themselves from any mortal family or entanglements wasn't all that bad an idea. However, Sarah's not about to let trivialities like logical thinking and sanity get in the way of her emotions. She loves her family and will never leave them. At least not until time says otherwise. She's happy to suffer the complications involved in keeping the two sides of her existence separated, despite the line between them blurring more and more. One of her sisters is nearly as strong and fast as a vampire. The other wields magic, which occasionally even does what she wants it to. Her little brother hangs out with demons. What could go wrong? Oh, right, a group of brain-undead vampires trying to upend the very nature of society in a move that just might hurl civilization back to the Iron Age. The idea of vampires lording over mortals is not entirely awful... except, the iron age didn't have anime movies or PlayStations. Sarah should probably try to stop them.
Threats of doom and destruction coming from the backyard barbecue grill are a bad portent-especially when they're not from Dad's cooking. Sarah Wright has pretty much gotten into her groove with the whole vampire thing. Unlife's pretty darn nifty... except when the Forces of Evil(TM) keep showing up to ruin her day. She wants to be normal: go to college, help her family, look after a vampire child, and try not to annoy anyone more powerful than the dude on the street corner collecting donations for his kid's soccer team. The biggest downside to getting in the way of a demonic-infused undead is how they tend to carry grudges. It wants to destroy her emotionally before it kills her. Since Firefly already got cancelled, it has no choice but to attack her family. Fortunately, this particular demon is trapped in another plane of existence. How much harm can it really do from there? Sarah's about to find out.
It's the end of the world as she knew it, but Harper Cody feels fine. Mostly. Surviving after nuclear bombardment isn't all bad. Alarm clocks aren't a thing anymore. No one gets stuck in traffic on their way to a soul-draining nine-to-five, their food's not full of sugar and preservatives, and she got out of having to take the SATs. Constant hypervigilance, having to carry a gun everywhere she goes, and the fear that any small injury could turn fatal is a small price to pay. While Evergreen has become an oasis of sanity in a fractured world, it's not without problems. Danger is out there, watching and waiting for the perfect time to strike. Idiots and gangs, she can handle, but not everything that can kill her is so obvious. The deadliest hazards can't be seen at all-and one of them is much closer than she imagined.
Becoming a vampire had been the most extreme shock of Sarah Wright's life-or so she thought.Fourteen months into her strange new existence, an impulsive red-headed bomb rocks her unlife to the core. As if having to cope with all the feels isn't stressing enough, she still has Chloe to worry about as well as keeping an eye over her shoulder in case some other angsty supernatural idiot decides to randomly become angry with her.Sarah tries her best to balance normal family life with helping two fledgling undead adjust to their fangs. Despite the shock of what happened, knowing she'll never be lonely is awesome. Alas, outside forces threaten her newfound contentment mere days after her world's upended when they do something more foolish than starting a land war in Asia. Some idiot tries to kill Arthur Wolent.Being the new girl usually keeps Sarah safe from the worst of politics, but it also makes her a weapon no one will see coming. The only hard part is surviving.
In her short time as a vampire, Sarah Wright has made some enemies... but she never expected to piss off the Universe. All things considered, for only being two months into her second year as a vampire, she's doing well. She's earned some status with the local undead. Her family is reasonably safe. Her boyfriend is kinda plain, but she needs to have a dose of normal somewhere.Things are looking good... right up until they're not.One near death experience could be chalked up to bad luck, but two defies plausibility. The third time a freak accident nearly destroys her for good, she starts to wonder if it's not so freak. If Sarah's going to survive another month of undeath, she'll need to find out why the fabric of probability hates her.And do it fast.
Civilization took thousands of years to build and only hours to destroy. One year after the bombs fell, the proverbial dust has settled, but real dust remains a lingering haze in the sky. The town of Evergreen has evolved from a group of stunned survivors to a passable attempt at civilization, far from the crazy pace of her old life. She has time to breathe... and time to think about how many ways someone could die: starvation, radioactive fallout, gangs-or even a dirty splinter.Harper is determined to go on. After all, humanity survived the Old West.Alas, she's going to need more than hope to survive. Being on the Militia makes her a target for Mother Nature's cruel talons, power-drunk survivalists, and even the very citizens she protects. Little, especially living to see tomorrow, is certain, but Harper Cody is sure of one thing: The future will only be as good as she helps make it
Giant insects and murderous raiders are a daily nuisance in the Badlands; Althea faces a new, even more confusing challenge-friends.Being the Prophet had some good parts: no one dared hurt her and she got to heal people. It also had bad parts, like constant kidnapping. In all her twelve years of life, she couldn't remember spending more than a few months in the same place... until now.In Querq, Althea is safe and loved. She isn't sure how to simply 'be friends' with other kids her age. It's a weird experience, but one she's trying to learn... until an outsider brings a reminder she is far from ordinary. The visitor speaks of a village stricken by angry, vengeful spirits where everyone is sick or dying. It's a first to be asked for help instead of taken.Althea can't say no, even if she might not make it home.
