"Songs from a Universe" is Michael Graves' most comprehensive collection of poetry to date. It poetically spans topics from the creation of art, to puzzles of quantum physics, historical mysteries, and at the same time delves deeply into life, love and social responsibility. "Songs" also contains his acclaimed "Vincent Series" about the artist, Vincent Van Gogh."Michael Graves is the real deal. He takes us into the poetic and philosophic life, good literature, and full relationships with gusto. He engages us thoroughly, often jauntily, with the full cooperation of his highly knowledgeable, metaphoric, rhythmic, and often comic, poetic mind. Very highly recommended " - Carole Brooks Platt, PhD - author of "In Their Right Minds: The Lives and Shared Practices of Poetic Geniuses" "Michael Graves takes poetry to an ethereal level. You travel on your own journey with his words, into a world of your own. You'll find the friend you always thought was never out there, right inside the pages of his books. You'll see yourself through his words because he speaks the words you long to say. He leaves you waiting for his next book." - Andrea Prescott, Screenwriter and Writing Consultant "Michael Graves is an accomplished poet whose creative works never disappoint. Michael writes with the gifted pen of an artist with an inquisitive mind as he explores an endless variety of subjects that take us on a journey full of wonder, wisdom, and excitement as we climb the realms of the universe and touch down to explore the madness and the majesty of the minds of the masters like Vincent Van Gogh. As our journey ends we come away with new perspectives and new appreciation."'Songs of the Universe' will delight, entertain, and make you smile. What more can we ask of a poet Michael Graves is a national treasure." - pj johnson, Poet Laureate of the Yukon
How Scripture Interprets Scripture – What Biblical Writers Can Teach Us about Reading the Bible
This book addresses a topic of vital concern to the church: How does the ancient biblical text speak to us today? Michael Graves, an expert in ancient exegesis, describes how Old Testament texts interpret earlier Old Testament traditions, explores New Testament reception, and explains how insights from this process translate into present-day biblical interpretation. Graves clearly explains and illustrates this approach with fulsome discussions of five themes that are addressed in various ways in the Bible: personal responsibility; sacrificial offerings; insiders and outsiders; marriage, polygamy, and divorce; and the afterlife. By attending to the way these topics are addressed throughout the entire biblical witness, we become better interpreters and teachers who are more adept at discerning the Bible's teaching on these topics and others for our modern world.

What is true of Scripture as a result of being inspired? What should divine inspiration cause us to expect from it? The answers to these questions in the early church related not just to the nature of Scripture's truth claims but to the manner in which Scripture was to be interpreted. In this book Michael Graves delves into what Christians in the first five centuries believed about the inspiration of Scripture, identifying the ideas that early Christians considered to be logical implications of biblical inspiration. Many books presume to discuss how some current trend relates to the "traditional" view of biblical inspiration; this one actually describes in a detailed and nuanced way what the "traditional" view is and explores the differences between ancient and modern assumptions on the topic. Accessible and engaging, The Inspiration and Interpretation of Scripture presents a rich network of theological ideas about the Bible together with critical engagement with the biblical text.

The Definitive, Up-to-Date Guide to Digital Forensics The rapid proliferation of cyber crime is increasing the demand for digital forensics experts in both law enforcement and in the private sector. In Digital Archaeology, expert practitioner Michael Graves has written the most thorough, realistic, and up-to-date guide to the principles and techniques of modern digital forensics. Graves begins by providing a solid understanding of the legal underpinnings of and critical laws affecting computer forensics, including key principles of evidence and case law. Next, he explains how to systematically and thoroughly investigate computer systems to unearth crimes or other misbehavior, and back it up with evidence that will stand up in court. Drawing on the analogy of archaeological research, Graves explains each key tool and method investigators use to reliably uncover hidden information in digital systems. His detailed demonstrations often include the actual syntax of command-line utilities. Along the way, he presents exclusive coverage of facilities management, a full chapter on the crucial topic of first response to a digital crime scene, and up-to-the-minute coverage of investigating evidence in the cloud. Graves concludes by presenting coverage of important professional and business issues associated with building a career in digital forensics, including current licensing and certification requirements. Topics Covered Include Acquiring and analyzing data in ways consistent with forensic procedureRecovering and examining e-mail, Web, and networking activityInvestigating users’ behavior on mobile devicesOvercoming anti-forensics measures that seek to prevent data capture and analysisPerforming comprehensive electronic discovery in connection with lawsuitsEffectively managing cases and documenting the evidence you findPlanning and building your career in digital forensics Digital Archaeology is a key resource for anyone preparing for a career as a professional investigator; for IT professionals who are sometimes called upon to assist in investigations; and for those seeking an explanation of the processes involved in preparing an effective defense, including how to avoid the legally indefensible destruction of digital evidence.

Jerome (c. 347-419), one of the West's four doctors of the church, was recognized early on as one of the church's foremost translators, commentators and advocates of Christian asceticism. Skilled in Hebrew and Greek in addition to his native Latin, he was thoroughly familiar with Jewish traditions and brought them to bear on his understanding of the Old Testament. In 405 Jerome completed his Latin translation of the Old Testament, based on the Hebrew text, and not long afterward began to work on commentaries devoted to the major prophets--Daniel (407), Isaiah (408-410), Ezekiel (410-414), culminating with Jeremiah but reaching only through chapter 32 before his death in 419. Throughout the commentary Jerome displays his familiarity with both Hebrew and Greek texts of Jeremiah, often establishing the literal meaning through the Hebrew text and offering a spiritual interpretation that draws on the Septuagint. He frequently interacts with other translations known from Origen's Hexapla. Jerome's extensive education in the classics and Jewish tradition as well as in both Antiochene and Alexandrian exegesis shine through the commentary at every point. Here for the first time Michael Graves supplies readers with a highly readable translation in English, useful textual notes and a helpful introduction. Ancient Christian Texts are new English translations of full-length commentaries or sermon series from ancient Christian authors that allow you to study key writings of the early church fathers in a fresh way.
