A Prisoner of the Page opens with the narrator inviting the reader to help it solve a mystery - the mystery being whether the narrator exists or is merely a figment of the reader's imagination. Or - put another way - whether the narrator is a prisoner of the page or a free actor. And thus begins a short conversation between the two to decipher just that. From one angle - the book is a psychological examination of the internal workings of the human mind - and from another angle - a conversational piece between a reader and a narrator. In the end - however - A Prisoner of the Page is a celebration of the human mind in all its complexity and beauty and a celebration of the relationship between the reader and the narrator.

The collaborative writing of poetry is not a new concept and neither is the collaborative writing of Haiku. In fact Japanese poets used to encourage this practice by traveling the countryside in order to add to each other's work. They would even host poetry parties in which entire volumes of linked haiku were created and later published. Each haiku having the ability to stand alone and yet "Linked" together to form a much broader expression or connection. We have tried to emulate that concept here, with one contemporary twist - we wrote the majority of this book via text messaging. What are linked haiku? They're haiku that fly aloneAnd in formation
Crystal Lake chronicles the adventures of the author and his son on repeated visits to Crystal Beach in Burnsville, MN in 2014. Beginning in the spring, the reader is immediately transported to the small beach where the sights and sounds of spring and summer are in full effect: sunshine, a slight breeze, waves crashing against the shore, seagulls calling, children building sandcastles and splashing in the water, and fishing boats slowly gliding past.Crystal Lake is part of an ongoing series the author began in 2010 as a way to record his son's childhood and highlight the simple joys of fatherhood and parenting in general. The other titles in the series so far are Little Man and Emmett. Personal, light, insightful and fun - this series is perfect for any parents to be or anyone who would like to connect with another parent via the written word.

Little Acorn follows the growth of an acorn from nut to fully-grown tree and introduces a young reader to the various animals and objects which interact with it along the way. A short-but-sweet read from start to finish, Little Acorn will delight a young child's imagination with the simplicity of its message and the unique warmness of its illustrations.
Emmett continues the adventures of little Emmett Hofmeister and his Dad which were originally documented in an earlier book entitled Little Man. Whereas Little Man followed Emmett from the womb until his first birthday, this book highlights some of Emmett's big and little achievements for ages two through five. In the end, the book is a celebration of childhood and parenthood - a positive look at fun and tender moments between a father and a son: splashing in puddles after a rain, counting and stacking coins, turning a bed into a boat for sea voyages, and searching for clues on the way to Candy Land. Emmett is part of an ongoing series the author began in 2010 as a way to record his son's childhood and highlight the simple joys of fatherhood and parenting in general. The other titles in the series so far are Little Man and Crystal Lake. Personal, light, insightful and fun - this series is perfect for any parents to be or anyone who would like to connect with another parent via the written word.
Addition is a short volume of poetry which was, by the author's own admission, an experiment in seeing how long he could write without stopping. To achieve this goal, he employed a form of writing he referred to as 'Wordeling' or 'Now-Writing' - the guidelines for which were simple: keep writing, don't stop, and don't edit during or after the process. When completed, he decided to leave the piece as it was - mistakes and all - to except the imperfections as part of the piece - imperfections that ended up flavoring it in a way that fixing them would have diminished.Addition is one installment in a continuing series of writing exercises the author started which include (as of now) three other works: Then Now Later, U, and a collaborative linking haiku project entitled Linking - which was written mostly via text messaging with a friend (Joseph Eugene Davis). Besides being writing exercises - the author has stated that these projects also function as psychoanalytical tools similar to inkblot or word association tests. Expressed in another way - these exercises have the ability to give voice to the subconscious.
Then Now Later is a short volume of poetry which explores the idea that the past, present and future are always present(s) in our lives. Using simple language and a free-flowing mixture of rhymed and unrhymed verse, the author visits each title theme (then now later) individually, but appears to emphasize the importance of living 'in the now' while still trying absorb the nutrients of the past so that the recipe for the future is created with care. The book opens with the famous lullaby 'Row Row Row Your Boat' which serves as a perfect opener for the piece because after a series of shorter poems, the book becomes and concludes with a lengthy stream of consciousness narrative written 'in the now'.Then Now Later is one installment in a continuing series of writing exercises the author started which include (as of now) three other works: U, Addition, and a collaborative linking haiku project entitled Linking - which was written mostly via text messaging with a friend (Joseph Eugene Davis). The Island City is a short volume of poetry which highlights the simple joys of a summer weekend at a cabin on a lake in Western Wisconsin. Set in Cumberland (which is also known as The Island City) at Camp Brigadoon on Beaver Dam Lake, this book is perfect for anyone who has spent any amount of time on a lake in Minnesota or Wisconsin at any point in their lives. Written in a clear and simple language, the poems (although short in length) are full of the familiar kind of images only a weekend next to the water with family can create.
