On the one hand, particle-based sensing techniques are driven by new technologies for preparing and measuring micro- and nanoparticles and by a fascination of the possibilities for design and functionalization of all specificities in structure shapes and behavior of these tiny objects. On the other hand, there evolves a fast-growing need for new sensing and communication paths for medicine, biotechnology, and analytical science, as well as for new and efficient information transfer and storage systems. No longer are particles regarded only as special types of materials. However, we have a better understanding of how they are bridging the gap between material and system, between structure and function. Although there are numerous books on micro- and nanoparticles and on sensors, there is, to the best of my knowledge, no book focusing on the general concept of particles as mobile microtransducers. This book clarifies that signal-transducing particles should be regarded as functional elements, as part of a system, not simply as special materials. It introduces concepts of bead-base sensing and "mobile spies" at the micro- and nanoscale and gives a representative overview of the variety of particle-based sensing. The state of the art in the development of particles as mobile spies for communication and information management allows us to speculate about future particle-based components and systems in a completely sustainable world economy. Kritik bezieht sich auf die Teleologik des älteren Naturrechts und auf den Empirismus, besonders den Utilitarismus, in der Gerechtigkeitstheorie auf Konzepte egalitärer Umverteilung wie die Wohlfahrtsökonomie, aber auch auf Rawls' widersprüchlichen Ansatz. Hingegen bieten freiheitsrechtliche Grundbegriffe wie das Menschenrecht, die Menschenpflichten, das Privatrecht, ursprünglicher Erwerb und der Vertrag die systematische Basis für die Hauptformen der Gerechtigkeit und deren Konkretisierung insbesondere in Familie und Gesellschaft. Im Gegenzug zur krisenhaften Gespaltenheit der Besitzverhältnisse bis hin zu den Extremen überflüssigen Reichtums und empörenden Elends wird vor allem die neu begründete Form der Teilhabegerechtigkeit herausgestellt. Diese räumt jeder Person aufgrund des ideal-ursprünglichen Gemeinbesitzes der Menschheit an der Weltsubstanz ein vermögensproportionales Erwerbsrecht ein - zu konkretisieren etwa in Rechten auf Bildung und auf Arbeit. Erst dadurch wird Gesellschaft ein ausgeglichenes Verhältnis freier, gleicher, selbständiger Bürger. Politisch entsprechen der Gerechtigkeitssystematik der demokratische, auf verantwortliche Repräsentation gegründete Rechtsstaat sowie ein Friedensbund souveräner (selbstbestimmter) Staaten, dessen Verfassung in weltbürgerlicher Hinsicht auch drängende Probleme internationaler Gerechtigkeit lösen könnte.

Information Extraction (IE) is a section of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and is used to extract information from text. The Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) combines a huge variety of source vocabularies, terminologies, and ontologies and covers numerous themes in medicine. The UMLSint package was developed to break down the complex data structure of UMLS and MetaMap Transfer (MMTx). The package gets as an input a sentence of medical text and returns attributes of interest from the UMLS. The information consists of factual knowledge from the Metathesaurus and information generated by the MMTx tool. The MMTx tool is used to create logical elements and gather information about the lexical and morphological structure. The purpose of this book is to enable IE systems, which process medical text, an easier access to the knowledge base named UMLS. This book is contributed to researchers in the fields of Medicine and Computer Science.

The regression estimation problem has a long history. Already in 1632 Galileo Galilei used a procedure which can be interpreted as ?tting a linear relationship to contaminated observed data. Such ?tting of a line through a cloud of points is the classical linear regression problem. A solution of this problem is provided by the famous principle of least squares, which was discovered independently by A. M. Legendre and C. F. Gauss and published in 1805 and 1809, respectively. The principle of least squares can also be applied to construct nonparametric regression estimates, where one does not restrict the class of possible relationships, and will be one of the approaches studied in this book. Linear regression analysis, based on the concept of a regression function, was introduced by F. Galton in 1889, while a probabilistic approach in the context of multivariate normal distributions was already given by A. B- vais in 1846. The ?rst nonparametric regression estimate of local averaging type was proposed by J. W. Tukey in 1947. The partitioning regression - timate he introduced, by analogy to the classical partitioning (histogram) density estimate, can be regarded as a special least squares estimate.

Diese Arbeit zeichnet die Diskussion uber die Rechtsentwicklung der Bestechungsdelikte seit dem Reichsstrafgesetzbuch von 1871 bis zum Korruptionsbekampfungsgesetz von 1997 nach und untersucht die vom Gesetzgeber mehrfach vorgenommenen Rechtsanderungen vor allem im Hinblick auf die subjektiven Tatumstande. Ausgehend von der bis heute ungeklarten Frage nach dem geschutzten Rechtsgut bestatigt der Autor anhand der Subsumtion von Fallbeispielen (Drittmittelforschung, Sponsoring) die von ihm aufgestellte These, dass unter den Tatbestand der Vorteilsannahme auch nicht strafwurdige Verhaltensweisen fallen und daher eine Korrektur durch den Gesetzgeber folgerichtig ware. Der Autor verneint daruber hinaus die von ihm anschliessend untersuchte Frage, ob das geltende Dienst- und Disziplinarrecht im Vorfeldbereich eigentlichen Korruptionsunrechts als rechtliche Alternative zu einer "strafrechtlichen Loesung" tauglich ist.
