Francesco da Milano Francesco da Milano La Canzon Delli Uccelli (Le Chant Des Oiseaux) For Low G Ukulele
Francesco Canova da Milano (also known as "Il Divino", (1497 -1543) was an Italian lutenist and composer born in Monza, a small city some 15 km north-northeast of Milan. Da Milano worked for the papal court for almost all of his career. Da Milano was heralded throughout Europe as the foremost lute composer of his time And he was at the forefront of the musicians who established the lute as a vehicle for polyphonic composition in the early 16th century of the Italian Renaissance. His music represents the transition from the loose improvisational style of his predecessors to the more refined polyphonic textures of later lute music. Recommended for Intermediate and Advanced Performers About Michael P Walker I studied guitar at Birmingham-Southern College under David Walpert who was a student of Andre Segovia and I have been playing guitar, ukulele, Baroque guitar, and the lute for more than fifty years. I have transcribed these compositions with the hope of exposing this rich, beautiful music to a wider audience of guitar and ukulele players.

Andr Campra was a French composer and conductor of the Baroque era who was born on 4 December 1660 in Aix-en-Provence, France. Campra served as ma tre de musique (music director) at the cathedrals of Arles and Toulouse before serving in a similar capacity at the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris from 1694 to 1700. In 1697, he began to compose for the theatre and published some theatrical compositions under his brother's name to protect his reputation. In 1700, he gave up his post at Notre Dame and devoted himself to theatrical music with critical success. Le Carnaval de Venise is a "com die-lyrique" in a prologue and three acts by Campra, with libretto by Jean-Fran ois Regnard. It premiered on 20 January 1699 at the Salle du Palais-Royal in Paris, performed by the Acad mie royale de musique, and was later restaged in February 1711. The opera is set in Venice during the carnival season and tells a story of love triangles, foolish old men, and an elopement in the first two acts, interwoven with Italianate slang. The third act is about Orpheus and his journey to Hades to recover Eurydice. Recommended for Intermediate and Advanced Performers
Albert de Rippe 46 Renaissance Pieces For Low G Ukulele
Albert de Rippe (also known as Alberto da Ripa da Mantova) was an Italian lutenist and composer of the 16th century. He was born in Mantua and worked there before joining the court of Francis I in France in 1528. At the French court, he was held in high esteem and was paid a double salary compared to other lutenists. De Rippe's lute music was unique for its time as it was independent of vocal music and was expressive, intricate, and virtuosic. This expansion of possibilities for instrumental music was reflected in his six published volumes of fantasias, intabulations, and dances, posthumously compiled by his student, Guillaume de Morlaye. De Rippe's lute music had a lasting influence on keyboard works of the following century, thanks to its rich counterpoint and virtuosic writing. Recommended for Intermediate and Advanced Performers
